A couple months ago my air doors in the HVAC started moving around, changing with engine load (vacuum), so I thought EATC vacuum leak or similar problem. Planned to fix it, but still worked enough, not the highest priority . . . ;).

Now two months after the onset of the air door problem, my climate control fan has stopped running. The control unit in the dash doesn't have visible problems, but I need to do some electrical checks. The fuse for the HVAC under the dash is good. I am checking the Ford manual for the locations of the blower relay and blower motor connector to probe for voltage and shorts. Does this 2004 car still use blower resistors? :(

I must say I'm getting tired of Ford electrical problems, with the faulty ignition coils, flickering heater switch light and failed LCM headlight and lighting relays (!). But I digest.

If any of this blower problem and/or air door problem sounds familiar to anybody don't hesitate to point me in the right direction.

Both of these issues are well documented on here. Just do a search and you will find the answers. Very easy fixes.

Tap the blower control module on the firewall behind the passenger side cam cover with the blower fan on high. That should kick it back on. I have to do that every so often when my blower stops working.

Yeah, like the Fonz! I'll tap it and see if I can't replace it after that. The O-rings for the air door control solenoid leak is pretty obvious.

Sounds like the blower control relay is flaky. I can hear a relay click when I move the fan control from med to high, but no response from the blower.

I had the same issues with the fan not working at all in the A/C or vent modes and I got tired of tapping on the module but kinda relieved some fustration though.

Fastblackmerc sold me one of his rebuilt BCM and it works like a champ. Might want to send him a PM.

Thank you Jim.

Actually you DIGRESS... DIGEST is what happens when you eat something :D

Sounds like a bad BMC, like Paul said tap it... it it comes on then that is the problem....

I've got 12V on the pink wire going to the blower motor. I believe the blower control switches the ground side of the motor? I feel the blower motor relay behind the passenger cam cover click, but no blower response. Do I need to do any further diagnostic before replacing the O-rings and blower motor relay?

Tapping it didn't help. Maybe I need to eat something.

The relay is most likely shot.

New BCM and blower works again. Wife is happy. Now for the EATC solenoid O-rings . . .
