This may be a stupid question but do you drive with it on or off? And why??

off only because my sensor went a few years ago, no big deal to me. Always turned it off anyways when I wanted to have some fun

With it on. Many a driver has totaled his Marauder during slippery street conditions, medium speed 45-55 MPH. I've talked to at least four, men and women, in my geographical area alone. NW Louisiana +/~ 200 miles.

I drive with the traction control on unless I'm in a snowy condition that requires me to turn it off to drive, for example, my driveway is pretty steep and if it is a little snowy out, I turn it off until I get onto the road, but sometimes you need to allow for a little spin to get up a grade.

Off = pedal to the metal!!

Even when I did drive it in the snow. I kept it off. The TC would bog the car down and I'd end up almost getting stuck.

TC in snow/rain/dry roads = Total Fail!!

"Bolsen's" signature says he has a factory sunroof (moonroof??). So, I would suspect that he has an '04 MM WITH traction control. Otherwise, the moonroof is an aftermarket install.

I leave my T/C on especially in wet/slick weather to avoid problems like \/\/\/\/\/\/ during turns and corners. My T/C has kicked in and possibly saved a spinout on at least 3 occasions that I can recall .... each time on a wet/slick left turn from a traffic light.

I trust I know very little compared to most here. How can I tell if it is a factory moonroof or aftermarket? It looks pretty stock to me. I drive an 03.

If your car's an '03, it's an aftermarket moonroof as they weren't offered as options until '04.

Does your car have two rocker switches on the dash trim panel to the right of the steering wheel, as shown in the photo below?

The one closest to the steering wheel is the switch to turn the T/C on-off.

The flashing light means the traction control is being used.

The flashing light means the traction control is being used.

And if the engine noticably bogs down if you try to speed up when spinning, the T/C is working.

I can't even remember the last time I actually left mine off in the MM, I always have it off in any weather. Now if it slick out and I stop on a incline I will turn it off to get traction but I try to avoid even getting in that situation to start with.

Now on my Taurus, I leave it on since it's AWD and only turn it off when I want to have some fun.

What is your VIN number?

If it starts with 2MHHM, you have a factory moonroof. The "H" in the 3rd position indicates an "incomplete" vehicle that went in for moonroof install before delivery.

If it starts with 2MEHM, it was an aftermarket install done by the dealer or the owner after delivery.

I suspect that you have a 2MEHM early build 300a with moonroof but without traction control. The VIN is key.

WTF does this ^^^^ mean? Bolsen says he has an '03 MM with a moonroof and no traction control. Moonroofs were not an available option in 2003 (even though the brochure says they would be available in late 2003 model year). Traction control was introduced with the '03 MM 300B model and carried forward to 2004.

$10.00 says he's got an '03 MM 300a with an aftermarket moonroof and a 2MEHM VIN to prove it. Probably a pre-September 2002 build date, too. Ante up your $10.00 Mr. Man. ;)

Jeez Charlie underwear to tight today?

I've read on this site some people who have 300b's have some options that were from both years. The consensus was Ford had some left over 03 parts like locking fuel doors and stuck them on the B's which for the most part do not have the locking door.

Your probably right that it's an aftermarket moon roof but I threw the idea out there :)

Ok Marauderers this thread is very interesting now I will aport to the thread, What about of the Panthers that have traction control but you cannot disable it ? in my case my Panther BP74I ( 2000 Ford Crown Victoria LX HPP) as I understand my Panther has traction control but it cannot be disable (turn off) by switch, well mangs I have a few questions about this function.1- What is the function of the traction control and how it works ?2- In Panther cars without traction control switch but have the function is possible to disable it and where ?3- in Panthers without Traction control switch, it can be modified to add the switch and which parts I have to get to convert it.

All Marauders came from the factory with the "same" HP.... 302 at the crank.

T/C was on all 2004's and some late production 2003's.

Ford did not install moonroofs at the St. Thomas facility, they were sent out to another company to install.

Correct, that's why they carry the "2MHHM" incomplete vehicle VIN designation.

I doubt at this point in the MM history it would decrease the value any. It's like having a pool in your backyard, it is what some people are looking for and others would take a pass.

Me personally I would never order a car with a sunroof because eventually it will leak but other people love them.:)

Typically, a moonroof (or a sunroof) will increase the value of the car. Most people see this as a desirable option. That's why the MSRP is bumped up by $1000-$1500 for those vehicles with the moonroof/sunroof option. Of course, that added value depreciates over time at about the same rate as the vehicle itself.

A quick check on KBB for a Marauder both with and without moonroof shows about a $250-265 difference in private party price for "Excellent" condition. That's probably a good gauge on added value. As long as the install is professional and is operating properly, I don't think it matters whether it is factory original or not. Just MHO.

What it is really worth ... depends on what the buyer is willing to spend.
