and I was wondering is there a benefit or purpose for where it is? Has anyone relocated theirs for easier access? Just wondering.

Did you go with the Reiche stat????

Costs a little bit more but well worth it.

I had one installed and I never have to worry about the needle climbing on my temp gauge on bright sunny days in paradise.

OEM replacement. I just learned about the one you referenced. I needed to get her back up and running because she is my daily driver. Still in the burping process.

Can be a PIA trying to get all the air out....

Indeed it is but going alot better than the last time. Following the instrictions to the detail.

Don't think you can relocate it. I can get mine from the top or bottom.

Changed my T-stat, followed the instructions here explicitly and the needle still drives north to the H. What am I missing? I stays at around 20mph mark for a good while and then runs north gradually.

Was the system burped?

Did you put the thermostat in the right way?

Did you go with the 195 or a Stant 180 t-stat?

I think the location of the t-stat is great, pretty easy to get to from top or bottom and thankfully not on the block which is always a PITA.

I went with the 195. Even still I don't think the needle should run so far north.

Your next step is to check for proper circulation from a cold start let it warm up with the climate control set to a high temp. Does the air coming out get warmer and warmer? If so the water pump is circulating.

Next see if the thermostat is actually opening feel the upper heater hose near the radiator. It should go from cold to too hot to touch when you hit the point where the T-stat opens, that should be somewhere near the middle of the gauge.

Does the cooling fan come on when it gets past that half way point, how about when you put the climate control on defrost?

I didn't mean it like that way, it's just good to have the 180 especially if you are running a tune.

CR...understand. My EATC is out so I cannot gauge the circulation based on the air heat but the upper radiator hose is definitely getting hot. And at idle there are no issues. it is only when I am rolling does the needle move north of 20 mph.
