All modern vehicles have the VIN, or at least a portion of it stamped into the block, in fact it's been Federal Law effective 1/1/68... Where is it on the mod motors??? Dunno never pulled one out, but on most of the earlier Ford V8 it's stamped on the back of the block just below the deck(head mating)surface...
