well me and my family where going out to dinner last night for my wifes birthday... well it was wet we where goin around a corner and sure enough there we went right into a curb.. well looking at the damage body.. fine rim road rashed.. suspension ... pushed to the passenger side by an inch and a half to two... what do you guys think i should try to do claim it on ins. or try to fix it myself? i dont have over copious amount of money so either i can pay my dedutable and let them fix it or i can get the parts and rim(which i am pretty sure is bent)

1st off, I'm glad to hear that you and your family were not hurt Tnbigbody.

2nd, I'd go through insurance since that type of damage sounds like an endless pit of money if you did the work yourself trying to diagnose each and every component and/or bushing that was damaged, evident or not, which is my main issue w/ doing the work yourself.

Just my 2¢, I hope this helps. :)

Sorry to hear about your damage. :( Glad to hear that everyone is OK.

Losing the rear end during a turn in wet/slick conditions and spinning out is fairly common here. The back end of the MM is pretty light in the tail and prone to kick out under wet conditions. I have learned to back off a tad in the turns after my rear jumped out about 12 inches on 3 difference occasions. T/C kicked in and helped me save it each time. Maybe I could have saved it without T/C ... don't know. Before my "tune", the 1-2 shift happened right in the middle of the turn and may have aggravated the spinout condition.

Hope you are able to get it fixed and back on the road soon without too much personal expense.

Rear end suspension? Sounds like the watts link took the hit. I my self would at least check that and do an upgrade before claiming it. Hopefully that and a rim replacement is all that's needed. These cars are notorious for hydro planing, been there too many times myself. Glad to hear everyone is fine.

Insurance. Thats what you pay them for. Insist oem parts. You can usually get them to.go.with performance stuff too if it cuts cost for them.

Low tire tread??

May I ask if you had traction control ON? There's a current thread on this matter and your input would be valuable.

yes trac was on i have good tire tread it was just really wet and cold here and not a well traveled road thankfully. i amsure the shock from the blow moved alot of things (including watts) i can see on my rear sway bar how much it had shifted because of the clean patch left by the axel mounts and i am about to call my ins to see how to get this process started will keep everyone posted and thank you all for the concern

Glad you and the family are OK, if you need any parts, I may be able to help.

Even with the traction control on it wont help the car stop sliding if it's already in motion like that in a turn or bend. I've let off on the gas before when sliding and traction control didn't kick in, when I got back on the gas it did as it started to sense the rear wheels were moving at a faster rate than the front wheels.

I'd go through insurance cause there could be under line problems you may not notice. If the rear axle is pushed over some that could cause driveline (driveshaft) issues down the road as the geometry is off.

Had the same thing happen to me your rear end will never be the same cost me about 300$ to fix it myself. Insurance wanted a 500 deductible. Your watts barrs are deffinitly bent. but im still about 3/8s off was about 2½

Like I said, good time for an upgrade. Why have insurance through same crap back on? At least take a looksie?

Hate to hear it. :( Fix it yourself, the ass end of these cars pop out like a dislocated shoulder. Get a whole rear end out of a 'Vic from a junkyard if you have to, whatever it takes, keep the Marauder!

+1 but it would have to come off a 04 or higher cv. You could also go with a town car suspension on not sure what the years are for those

Right on, heck I'd put a Pinto ass end under it just to keep it. Screw the insurance companies.

As someone mentioned earlier justbob, some insurance companies will foot the bill for upgraded parts if they cost less than OEM parts, worth a look IMO. :)

I'd look at it myself first (but I have good friends that have a body shop).

well i got the marauder at the shop insurance is covering it. my rim is bent they are ordering a new one my watts link in fubar the new one is on its way as well. but i told them that i had a lot of brake pulsation when i drove it up to the shop i told them that and they seemed to think it would be fixed when the new rim was installed i strongly doubt it. but if it isnt fixed by the time i get it back then its going to be right backin there til it is.

well i have an update on my repair.. so far items replaced or repaired.. drivers rear rim repaired, watts link replaced, level sending unit replaced due to the bags continuiosly inflating way past ride height almost to the point of bursting (which turns out didnt need to be replaced because when they installed the new watts link they installed the sending unit bar upside down, and it took a ford mechanic to figure that part out... i got a call earlier today saying that it was going to be aligned shortly afterward and i could pick it up around 2-3 today... well i went up there at that time and guess what? they found out that my rotor for that same rim was bent and my axle shaft was as well... so yet again a few more days with out my car SMH
