What would be a good brake upgrade kit to go with? Wilwood? Brembo? What calipers? I don't want them noisy, what do u guys recommend?

Anything is better than stock. It's a matter of what you want to spend. Wilwood makes an excellent product, and Baer also has a good setup.

I would get the Wilwoods over the Baer kit, it might just be my Baer kit but it doesnt seem to make a huge difference unless I really use a lot of brake pressure to stop. I have driven Forthhorseman's Marauder with the Wilwoods have a much better all around feel.

Wilwoods, ask Doomie or guspech750, they'll give you a glowing reference.

I love my Wilwoods along with SS brake lines and a full system flush. Awesome pedal feel/pressure. Repeated hard stops and no brake fade. And can slow down from 100+ MPH with no pulsating of the brake pedal. Well worth the money.
And they look F-king awesome!!

How do you stop a DTR with brakes in a free fall:confused:cause that's the only way it will do over a 100:D
Seriously if you want more brake feel try the SS lines form TCE first. Might be what you are looking for. :)

Can't go wrong with Willwoods from TCE......

BTW... you just can't go out and by the parts.... alot of the parts are custom made.
Brembo doesn't make a kit for our cars!
Wilwood is the only company that makes a kit for the FRONT AND REAR for the marauder!
Wilwood FTW!!!!!! :banana2:

Actually I think TCE is the only one that makes a kit for our cars... using Willwood calipers.

You can't go wrong with the TCE kit.
It comes with braided SS front hoses. If your not going to do the rear upgrade, at least get the braided SS hoses for the stock rear calipers.

Why can't I just get vented&slot rotors from tce? IMO it's better to get rotors some good pads ss lines poder coat calipers to save a grand

Your comparing apples to oranges.....
The Willwoods are 6 piston calipers, much greater clamping force.
The rotors are bigger giving a greater surface to clamp on to.
If you go back to some old threads Todd at TCE explains it all.

Depending upon options and front kit diameter; about $3k =/- a few bucks, plus shipping and refundable core charge. Of course you don't HAVE to do both ends at one time either. Buy all means I'm not cheap but

That is correct!
That was another deciding factor for me getting Wilwoods.

I've been thinking of replacing my Marauder's 13" Wilwood kit with that new 14" Wilwood setup that TCE has, actually. Wish I could afford to do the rears and the rear axle c-clip elimination mod at the same time.
EDIT: A couple of people have asked, if I do the upgrade I'll be keeping my existing 13" kit and moving it to a different car. I will not be selling the kit.

Well... I still haven't really decided what I'm going to do. Just thinking about it right now. But if I do make the move, I think you know which car will be getting the hand-me-downs. ;)

You can just upgrade the rotors and get ceramic pads. The brakes will be WAY, WAY better, and then you will still have money left over for a tune, JLT, Magnaflows, headers, high flow cats, 4.10's, Steeda's, 6 tanks of gas, 15 oil changes....................... and a night on the town with Guspech.

i may go this route just because i tend to pinch pennies and im saving for some forced induction... i may also be a bit cheap since my brakes are relatively new but what may be a good rotor upgrade for stock calipers? suggestions? sorry if this is a bad place for this question, dont mean to change subjects...

R1 Concepts makes a pretty darn good rotor and a quality set of ceramic pads. They have slotted, drilled & slotted, and just a plain rotor.

FastBlackMercury has the right Idea. his are the ideal set up.
The paint is beautiful.
I also like that he only did the slotted and did not cross drill.
The ones on my Caddy are slotted as well as dimpled. I am trying that out to see how
things go with that system.
Nascar only does slotted. But I guess you already know that.

Cheaping out on brakes isn't a good idea...... especially if your going with a power adder.... IMHO....

I didn't know those cars even had brakes. :stooges:
I suppose they're used just before a tire change, but that'd be about it.
I put a set of KVR 14" slotted rotors and custom calipers on the front and gas slotted rear stock size rotors on the back.
They look really cool with the hue rotors and the caliper clearance on the stock wheel is maybe 1/4 inch! The pedal pressure is very high, but they do stop very hard without locking up the 245 Nittos I have up front.
I'm sure they weigh less than the stock parts because of the aluminum hats, but I have a noticeable shake up front on uneven roads, probably not related...

I'm thinking of going with the R1 Concepts setup since I'm needing to have my rotors turned. I'd rather get something I like instead. Stock brakes dont seem to cut it on normal street use. I ordered some Aerospace brakes for the Mustang.
Which pads do you recommend from R1 Concepts? Do we get any discount from there? Sorry for thread jacking, just didnt want to start another thread on this same subject. Thanks!

I have the Baer kit, front and rear. The slotted and cross drilled rotors do stop much better than the factory brakes. The "Panic Stop" on factory brakes was:
you panic because you ain't stopping!
I can now honestly say that my car can "Panic Stop".
