i have a fiberglass mold guy that wants to make that body kit for my car and if he`s make the mold for the front, sides, and rear that he could make more if these kits.

I'd say let him do it. At the worst, your car will look different than anyone else's (if you decide to keep it). At the best, a new mod for everyone here, and some money in you friends pocket.

I have always liked it myself. Gives the car more of a newer bumperless image.

I like it but the cost is absurd.....
I think it was mentioned somewhere on MM.net that the cost was about $3k.

Something like 20 large to just buy the mold, but that's quite the commitment. Just think of the money to be made with all the CV guys! I seriously thought about buying it for some hopefull side income.

The problems are:
The initial cost.... 20k! That's a big nut for anyone.
You would need firm commitments from potential buyers, ie. money up front.
What usually happens is you get alot of people saying they want it. When they see the final cost you'd be lucky to have 10% of the people that initially wanted it purchase it.
You have to factor in the purchase price of the molds to the actual cost to produce the kit.
Another factor is the life of the molds. If they are steel they should last forever, if they are rubber they will have a finite life.
I like the kit but IMHO... it ain't gonna happen..... unless Martyo........... nevermind.

I really dislike the kit. The stock look is plenty-classy. The kit looks like an aftermarket cheapo.

I thought the original was made of OEM plastic and not fiberglass? I would never bolt up a fiberglass piece.

so i talked to my friend miguel and he said that he started in makeing a mold so far for the front facial ans when thats complete and looking just like to trilogy 1 we`ll test fit it on my cusins 04 mercury grand marquis and take some pics of it! as miguel was telling me that alot of fiberglass body kit are very thin and break easy he`s planing on reinforcing points of the kit with kevlar and some aluminum to give it strangth and at high speeds wont flop in the wind!after the front is done then he`ll focus on the rear bumper facial. when the car is all done he`ll have a complete mold for all sides and then can figure cost to make complete kit or just parts of it? now remember these will shorten the front and rear bumper alot but they will lokk so sweet when finished. Just to add 1 more point when he makes to rear facial he plans to mold the wording MARAUDER in the rear bumper for my kit but that will be opional when the mold is finish

Does your friend have the capability to produce the stock bumper covers in the plastic material? If he can do that he'll get a lot of orders I'm sure.

and I recall you lose the impact bumper capabilities, a casualty of the clean lines of the kit.

no just the impact crumpel plastic under the bumper cover is not used but the bumpers frame reforcement still stays on! that plastic crumpel is a 6inch extendtion on the bumper reforcement and when you remove that you can shorten the bumper those 6 or so inchs

I'm not the search guro but, I believe the Trilogy kit was for sale over on Motorcity. I think they were asking like 20K for the molds or something like that.

The Trilogy kit does nothing for me. I think it detracts and looks way too "look at me, look at me!" And not in a good way.:shake:

It would be interesting to learn the cost of the molds your friend is making to recreate (a portion of) the Trilogy kit. It just seems to me that buying a ready made mold is less expensive, but perhaps I have a lot to learn about mold making.

Bro I know I brought this issue alive again after two years but did your frind finish the moulds:D
Also discuss with him the manufacturing of the OEM rear bumper in plastic cz it will fly specially with my neighbours in KSA cz they r addicted to transfer any panther into a Marauder.

They are not 20K just 2K.
Myself and a few other members were considering purchase of these. but, after research I declined.

I looked into it also.
You would probably have to sell the kit for close to 10K (not painted) for any type of return. I highly doubt anyone will spend that much coin on a 10+ year old car.

I was under the impression the OEM bumper covers are no longer available.
I also heard a good used bumper cover is also hard to find. With all the Panther cars on the road in need of replacement not to mention owners wanting to customize I would think there would be enough demand to warrant production. The question is affordable price point ?

My reservations with the kit was the front bumper cover. You have to remove the actual bumper underneath and replace with something a lot less safe. i just didn't want to take the risk of selling the covers to someone and then them getting in an accident and you know the rest.
It could be very profitable at the 2K cost. Find a company to do the mold inject isnt that difficult. Selling them unpainted is another issue. Most buyers want a plug and play from and OEM exchange. With factory bumper removal and bracket fab, seems unlikely to the average Joe.
