i did the first oil change on the marauder this weekend. i took it on base to use the lift at the auto hobby shop to get a good look under her. everything looks great under there but holy moly, that oil filter is in a horrible spot. i thought the oil filter on my '92 'stang was in a bad spot, the marauder has it beat. there is no way to not get oil all over the steering rack and to contort my arm to get the filter R2'd was a PITA.
maybe it will be easier getting to the filter from the top?

It is still easier than in my Mark VIII with the same motor, think of it as rustproofing.

Had the same experience as you on my last oil chage. I'm doing mine from the top from now on...I'm also getting one of those socket type filter removers as opposed to the strap type. Should be much easier with that.

I found that it was easier, that's why I used the K&N oil filter :D

I've done the top and bottom route. I feel the bottom is the best route, just move the P.S. lines a hair and it slides right out. You should look into the oil filter oil catch thingy that Ford used to offer. It clips to the P.S. lines and reroutes the oil away from the rack. Nice little piece they made, if you are carefull, you won't get a drip on the rack.
Or put a remote filter kit on her and just relocate it. I like to add some oil to the new filter prior to install. When done just right you can fill it halfway and not spill any.

I remember those.....still used them even with the K&N. I think I might still have 1 around, just not sure.

I think next time I change oil, I will wedge a piece of thin cardboard below the filter and over the steering rack/lines. That might solve this issue of all the mess.
Plus no need to buy that attachment that fits onto the ps lines and then clean it. Just throw the cardboard away.

I have one of these and use only my hands to remove and install the filter from the bottom. Piece of cake.

that flexible funnel thingy looks interesting.
i like how Ford put a hole in the K-member below the steering rack so oil won't just pool there. at least they were thinking of that

This looks and will work much better than my card board rig setup.
Plus I can use it on other vehicles.
I will be on the look out when I pay a visit to my local flaps.
boatmangc you are on it!!!
