Check Engine light is on... Engine shooting 2 codes. P0408 and P0106. The mechanic I normally deal with told me that my fuel is burning Rich. And to put a bottle of Octane Booster in the tank and that should clear it up. Nope didn't work Check Engine light is still on. And the car does some light stumbling. Almost the same as if I had a bad coil, but much lighter.

A P0106 could be caused by:

Bad MAP sensor
Water/dirt intrusion affecting MAP sensor connector
Intermittent open in the reference, ground, or signal wire for the MAP sensor
Intermittent short in the reference, ground, or signal wire for the MAP sensor
Ground problem due to corrosion causing intermittent signal problem
A break in the flexible air intake duct between the MAF and the intake manifold
Bad PCM (do not assume the PCM is bad until you've exhausted all other possibilities)

A P0408 could be caused by:

- EGR volume control solenoid valve harness is open or shorted
- EGR volume control solenoid valve circuit poor electrical connection
- EGR volume control solenoid valve
- EGR temperature sensor and circuit

Octane Booster will not solve any problems and certainly not the ones you are experiencing.

If you are up for a drive come visit us and we can look it over.

If you are looking for the best in Charleston SC. area I would go to JONES FORD and ask for GARY SM. They have worked on my Marauder a few times. They have some great tech. I will be in the Charleston area Wed thru Friday this week for work. Give me a call if you like.

Jones Ford Number is 843-744-3311 tell them that Russ Pryor with Ford Sent you. You will have to pay for DIAG but then you will know what it is going to take to fix.

I could not find the code P0408 but I did find a P0106- Barometric (BARO) Pressure Sensor Circuit Performance. It means could be wiring concern or Sensor. I hope this helps. THE po4__ codes are in the EGR family and that could cause both concern.

UPDATE
Now I have changed the MAF Sensor and the EGR Vavle... A day or two later the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT jumps back on with a different code. (P0174) Got this code checked at AutoZone and the guy said that I need to change my 02 Sensors. My car just hit 150,000 and I have never changed them. So this leaves me to ask what replacement 02 Sensors is everyone going with? (Of course this only applies to those that still have CATs)

02 Sensors???

Marty I miss engines without codes.
