Hello I'm doing a timing chain job on a 4.6l sohc, because the tensioners and guides went bad, before I took off chains it says to turn the crank shaft till you have the left cam at 12 o'clock and the right cam at 11 o'clock after that I used the cam holding tool so they wont move while I took the chains out on both sides, after I took chains off and replaced them with new chains which new chains came with the marks on them so I tried to align them on the cam and crank sprocket and the left cam is two teeth off and the left one looks like its one teeth off? What should I do? Please help???

So what should I do? Remove the chains and try to align it by moving the crank or what?

set it back to zero and start over with an luck it should line up when done if not try a little move here and there you don't have much before it jumps

Forgive my ignorance as I have yet not had to do this, but what about swapping the chains from side to side? Could the marks be in slightly different locations?
