Can't say for sure, but I'm gonna guess a Menonite.
I heard they had some sort of convention up that way a few years back...

Are you sure you were on I-70? It runs east-west. I-270 runs north-south even though it violates the interstate numbering system. I-270 runs between the Capital Beltway and I-70 in Frederick, MD.
Generally, even numbered Interstates run East-West. Odd numbered Interstates run North-South. 270 is an exception for some reason.
No telling who it might have been since you don't mention a location, town, or mile marker except for where you were heading.
BTW -- Clarksburg is off I-270 near Germantown, MD. Unless Haggis or Ladyhawke took off work today, I don't think it was them. Don't think they commute in their MMs. 8 AM would have been too late for Haggis 'cause he'd already be at work.

Not Chris or I, unless there is something she is not telling me.
I-270 is considered an east/west highway therefore the numbering system is correct. It runs in a Northwest/Southeast direction.

That may be so; but a quick look at the map shows it runs North-Northwest (340*) to South-Southeast (160*). Much more North-South than East-West.
Doesn't surprise me that Maryland SHA can't read a map. Think I am gonna start lobbying to change all the marker signs to I-275. Probably won't cost much over $10 Million. They'll just jack up your MD taxes to cover it ..... probably another penny on your sales tax. Oh wait, O'Malley is already doing that right??

I thought that since it was 3 digits, the even/odd thing doesn't apply. The beltways around DC and Balt are 3 digits and are odd. They go in all 4 directions.
2 digit major highways even E/W and odd N/S

Beltways are an exception to the rule and use a "5" in their designation.
Baltimore I-695
Washington I-495
Richmond I-295
Atlanta I-285
Charlotte I-485
Cincinatti I-275
St. Louis I-255
Indianapolis I-465
Dallas I-635

No ... a 3 digit interstate is usually a connector to a main North-South or Main East-West interstate. Where it connects is given by the last 2 digits. I-270 connects the Capital Beltway with I-70.
An interstate highway ending in 5 that is NOT a Beltway is usually an alternate or parallel route. For example, the I-895 old Baltimore Harbor Tunnel is an alternate route for I-95 that by-passes the "new" Fort McHenry Tunnel on the mainline portion of I-95.
