this has been going on for some time now. it happens when im driving at very low low speeds...and it sounds like theres something clanking around in the rear of my car. i was stuck in traffic yesterday, and from stop and go, stop and go, etc, it seemed to happen right when the speedometer was at "0", the speedo needle raises about a 1/4" for it to read the "0' mph mark. it doesn't make the sound at anything above the 10mph mark and it sounds like there is something loose in the drive line or something. iv'e looked around a couple weeks ago and i didn't see anything hanging that could be swinging and hitting anything, or even like the exaust moving around from a bracket going bad/loose. anybody else have this problem? thanks for any help--whitey

the rear of my car is set a little lower, and I run 235 tires all around, when the airbags in the rear are low, I get a rattle from the exhaust because its close to other things untill the air bags pump up.
doesnt happen all the time, just once and awhile... so maybe this helps?

Parking brakes?Ding ding ding!
Same problem one time with The Blackbird. The parking brake pads are notorious for coming unglued from the shoes, plus everything in there rusts all to hell.

yes, they are different. The parking brake are what they call shoes and work just like a drum brakes, cause in essence it is a small drum brake inside of the rear rotor.. I had them come apart(material came off backing) on me on my Crown Vic sport. They were around $30 for the new shoes, and highly recommend getting new hardware for another maybe $15? They can be tempermental to get re-installed..at least it was for me..Brake tools do help with the associated springs rather than pliers, screwdriver etc. Idid complete one side a t a time so i could use the other side as reference..They will need adjusted too thru the little window on the back of the rear brake/axle housing..There is a rubber grommet sort of oblong to access teh "star" wheel which tightens or loosens the shoes.
