While doing my oil change I thought I would go ahead and clean my starter terminals as the positive had a lot of corrosion on it, tightened the positive down and then tightened the negative down and the last turn pulled it away from the starter and looks like it tore part of the metal on it. I rotated it back to someone stock location but from the looks of it will I still be able to start the car or would I need a new starter? I haven't hooked the battery terminals back up cause I didn't want to chance anything until I know something.

The the post is the negative feed line.

As old as the car is. Just replace it. It's cheap insurance.

I'm not looking for long term, just want to get the car out of my shop and home in my driveway, I can worry about replacing it on Monday, just kind of stuck at my work right now. The only thing I am worried about is after I hook the battery up and go to start the car and I don't want it sparking or anything.

When you put the new one up spray the posts with CRC Heavy Duty Corrosion Protector.
It will greatly extend how long it takes for the terminals and wires to get in the condition yours was in.
