Okay you experts, the time has come today for me to purchase new tires for my MM...I wanted to kinda goway from the stockers...My plan is to purchase the bfgoodrich kdw2. Is this a good tire to replace with? will i be able to run the 235/50r18 and 255/55r18 on the 04 modle? will it cause the traction controle light to come on due to the sizes. if so, what sizes i need to run up front and back to keep the traction controle module from tripping..would like a wider stance up front though. And would like to keep the stagged stance also.(front tire smaller than back)THANKS

I have driven in KDW's in other vehicles ... Wan not impressed but was not disappointed either.
Nitto 555 extremes ... Nice tires. You would like those.
I don't think the KDW2 is available in our size anymore.

I just installed my new cooper rs3a 245/55/18 on the rear and couldnt be happier. I like them better then my nitto 255/55/18 n420s and the fact that they are the stock size is a huge plus. I only bought rears because my fronts are good but as soon as i need them ill be buying the coopers for the front too. I see a few memebers are using the coopers and love them. There a killer tire and at a good price too.

235/50/18 Front and 255/55/18 Rear is OK for traction control. I ran that combination for about 2 years with no problem. As long as you maintain the 2% to 6% height difference between rears and fronts, you will be fine.
I don't think the KDW2 is available in our size anymore.
That ^^^^^^ is my understanding too. Don't think our BFG KDW2 sizes have been available for several years.

That is one NICE DTR!
Go with the Nitto 555 Extremes. I run the 295 on the rear but my wheels are widened. I would recommend to go with what MM2004 has or you can get them in the sizes you want as well. I just bought new fronts since I running the bfg's and will be putting them on week after next. I actually went with a 255/45/18 on the front this go around for a wider stance. Either way I really have been impressed with these tires.
GaMike has them on his also.

On my DTR, I have General Exclaim UHP's. 235/50 on the front and 255/55 on the rears. I happy with the wear, wet road traction and all around general performance. And they are reasonably priced.

I went with the nittos 555. 265/50 in the rear and 255/45 up front thanks to mm2004 for providing a pic of his car with those tires on it. Nice pic by way. Hope I will enjoy these like I did the stockers. Thanks everyone for your input.

I've got a set of the Yokohama Avid Envigor on my 03 and I'm very pleased with them. Came from Discount Tire and were reasonably priced. Got them on sale with a $100 Visa card rebate.

OK just to be sure. If I go with these Nitto's I will have no problem with TC or rim size. I am currently running Falken Ziek S/TZ01. Stock size in front and 255/55 18 in the rear. Unfortunately the S/TZ01's have been discontinued.
Sounds like the Nitto is the best replacement and the look should be real good.

I run stock 235 in front and 265 in the rear. I have no issues with Traction Control.

Nittos 420S in the rear (255/55)
Nittos 850 in the front (235/50)
I was thinking about the 255 but i wanted an all season kind of tire b/c my MM is a daily driver. The reviews and tread on the 420s were all positive. The only thing i don't like is the speed rating on the 420s are "V" which is below the manufacturer recommendation. I had one shop tell me they couldn't purchase and put the 420s on my car! WTF

I'm thinking about getting the Cooper RS3a tires for the rear.
Someone said these are a hard compound rubber and didn't recommend them.
Does anybody know if these tires are a hard or soft compound?

I have the Coopers now, just installed over the past couple of days. Great feel, no noise.
Can't say about the compound, though.
