Collecting Eaton Swap parts and am wondering what would be more beneficial?

If you had to choose only one of the options, would you get the eaton ported or get headers?

You will get more of a gain from headers!

And the sound cant be beat!

How much of a gain would a ported eaton give?

you are limited on your stock motor anyway. ported eatons are good for anywhere from 20-35hp i would guess

Not that much! Try more like 15!

a ported eaton will get you more then 15hp. its a waste either way, just go with the headers and a smaller pully. they dont call it a heaton for nothing

My understanding is the porting basically lowers Charge air temp more than anything else, so it allows for more HP add ons.
When I installed shorties, Posi ported the Trilogy, cat delete and 2.5 mids before re-tuning I had a 24 Hp gain.
Do long tubes, port later.
Keep in mind also, making more room for air to go (lowering exhaust back pressure) can actually cause a loss in boost.
I lost about 1 PSI when I did my last mods.

Loss in boost, but gain in HP, the amount of boost one makes isnt the be all end all deciding factor in how much hp a given set up will make

Id go for the headers. With an unported eaton and headers. Youll be making great safe power and safe boost for your stock engine.

If some day you buy a motor with forged internals, then port the Eaton or buy a twinscrew and crank up the boost.

That's what I did. Should have the numbers this week after she gets put back together by Marty's shop.

I'd do headers, instant gain regardless of boost level. Porting the blower is really only worth it when running higher boost.

Anyone know anything about OBX SS short headers? 99-04 Ford Mustang 4.6L v8.$315 The price is right.worth the effort? will they bolt on to stock pipes? I think they're from spartecmotorsports

There have been a few posted dyno charts before & after using various headers. The Stainless Works long tube showed the bigest gain of apx 50 hp.

Need to confirm these are for 4V motors.

If all you're going to do is shorty headers, and no work to the mid-pipe or cats, you're probably not going to see much gain. Better off spending the bucks and going with SS long tubes and 2 1/2" pipes back from the collectors, especially if you've already spent money for a ported blower (need to take advantage of the increased flow).
