Not a Marauder but my DD. Get a call from my union telling me that someone had found my wallet. The guy that found it it used my union card to try and find me. I was confused since I don't carry my wallet so I walked across the street to check my car and I find that the passenger side window had been broken :mad2:. Whoever did this stole my radar detector and wallet, and from what the parking garage security people say is that thieves target electronic things.....radar detectors, GPS units, cell phones, etc....... and they figure that the wallet was a bonus :mad2:. I made all the necessary & immediate calls....CC companies, 311 (for police report) insurance, etc.... Gotta take the day off today because I've got to get the window replaced, get a new drivers license, new SS card, call all 3 credit reports, and a bunch of other stuff. I called the guy who found my wallet (he left his name and number with my union rep) and met him after I got off of work. He said that he was walking down the street near Union Station and someone threw my wallet from the car. Unfortunately he didn't think to get make, model or plate number :(. When I called my CC they said that it had already been used for gas . So now all have been canceled (only 3....Master card, Kohl's and Home Depot :D). Sucks to have to do ALL of this crap because someone can't have a real life!! :mad2:

Better make sure Trish knows someone has your identity incase they pretend to be you. You get home, she's getting him a beer, he's got his feets on your coffee table, petting your dog. Then you have to explain who you are and stuff. You'll be like "Baby, it's me! Gold Thong Member!"

That sucks bro! Glad it wasn't your MM, but even if it was your sister's Fiat, it really blows that someone felt it necessary to do something like that.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.....there's a cold corner of Hell awaiting thieves. Scumbags! I hope he got run over by a bus going to use your CC at Walmart.

Sorry to hear the news, Mike. Stories like this really pizz me off.

On the other hand, shouldn't be too tough to get things squared away; after all, can't be too many Mikey Barbarosas in this world... ;)

Wow Mike. That really sucks man. F-king POS's!!

I guess on the flip side now. You can change your identity to a cool name like Casey or Gordon. You will just have to put up with being hit on by gay men.

That really sucks man. Whenever I park my car somewhere other than my house or work I will take down my radar detector and lock it in my glove box. Little things like that are what they call "smash and grab" items cause they can be taken so quickly.

That's what the guard said when I filled out a report at the garage.

Same here. :mad2: Sorry to hear about this Mike. :( The bastiges in this area target commuter parking lots for the same things ... electronics and loose stuff laying in cars while their owners are at work. Like Chris said .... they call it "Smash & Grab" because they just look for the easy stuff in plain view. Police have stepped up patrols at these locations; but they can't be there all the time or see everything.

Mike you did not mention that to me last night when we talked. Sorry to hear about it. It turns your world upside down for a while.
If you need I will fly to Chicago and comfort Trish...
You left your wallet in the car. They really hated you when they found the $2.00 in it. Need anything just call.

I write SEE I.D. on the backs of credit cards and such, and every single time a cashier sees it, they have asked for a photo ID. Don't know if anyone else here does it, but it gives me a little peace of mind.

Never leave your wallet in the car particularly when you leave an open invitation for a smash and grab like the radar detector in plain sight too.

Thought about that, but since they know where I live (they have my drivers license) I won't peruse it because I'd hate it if they did some kind of drive by and threw something thru the window if my wife's daughter was home alone, she'd be scared *****less :(

Don't let fear get in the way of potential justice! Best defense is a good offense. :uzi:

I was JUST gonna say the same thing. Never, ever. Memorize it.

Also, convince your insurance rep. that tinted windows are a theft deterrent because they can't see anything in the back of the car. ;)

that is a valid point bit if everyone turns a blind eye to this the criminals win
if they did do something like that they are just miking it worst on them

That's F***ed up, I hope you didn't take too much of a hit especially with the credit card. Hopefully a surveillance camera picks him/her out using your card at the gas station with a clear make, model, and license plate. SCUM-BAG to society. What a perfect way to ruin a good day, jEezZz!!!

That's why I have a visor mount for both my radars. No one can see it. Does not bake in the summer time. And high is best for radar. I also mount my gps in the upper left corner for the same reason. Get your radar visor mounts from eBay 10bucks and you can keep your radar

The worst part of a break-in isn't the loss of valuables or even the hassle of cancelling cards. It's the following days when the car is out of your sight and you're wondering if the MF'ers are back messing with your car again. :mad2:
