Hello fellow Marauders...
I've had my 2004 since April 2004 - put over 111k miles so far, and I have enjoyed every one of them. Only had a few issues - but the enjoyment I get far exceeds any problems. I plan to keep this car forever.
I'm getting some confusing advice on tires. I've read that the factory-spec KDWS tires aren't available, but I just bought a brand new pair of fronts from Discount Tire. Why buy anything else?
I'm looking forward to some upgrades - probably the air intake system to start with. What's next?

Welcome. Glad to have another member. Lots of your problems can be researched here.
I haven't had issues with or getting the original tires. Others chose to go with other tire brands and apparently have had issues with finding the original BFGs.

The front sized BFG KDWS 235/50/18 are usually readily available. Many other users are out there including some Mustangs. Its the rear 245/55/18s that are becoming increasingly hard to find. BFG has a T/A touring tire in that 245/55/18 (for the Camaro I think) but it doesn't have the same sidewall stiffness and is NOT a performance tire. Handling with that tire is much different. A detailed write-up here summed them up saying they "Were better than bald tires". Not much of a recommendation at all.
Personally, I like the OEM KDWS. However, others have switched to different brands due to the difficulty in finding our rear sizes and personal preferences on ride, etc.

For tires. I have General Exclaim UHP'S. 235/50's in the front and 255/55's in the rear. I like how the 255's fill in the wheel well more.
As far as upgrades. Get a tune. You can purchase one from Mo's Speed Shop or Lidio. They are both vendors here.
If you get a tune. You WILL ask yourself, how you ever drove your MM for 111k with the factory tune. It will wake the car up a lot!!

What he said!!! It will make the biggest instant difference for the money.
Tires: I have had no problem with the OEMs but as others have said, the rears are hard to find sometimes.

TRUTH! A tune adds a lot more benefit to the car than an air intake does. Plus down the road with getting an air intake you benefit more from it by having a tune than with just on the stock tune.

Like Joey and Paula sez, a tune is hands down the best first mod you can get for your car.
I'm running Nitto NT555 235/50 in the front and General Grabber UHP 255/55 on the rear, much better tire life and easier to find than the OEM BFGs.

I'm running 255/45-18 Generals up front and 265/50-18 Nitto NT555 on the rear. If you haven't already you should look into having the Carfixer alignment spec'd alignment done, it will help eliminate the inner tire wear on the front tires. I went through 2 good pairs of tires (had 70% tread life or more on them) but the inners were worn completely smooth.

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the site.
BTW, I'm one of a few that are running 295/45-18 tires on the rear without widened wheels.

I have just recently run into the problem of no original rear tires for my car. I had to go with the touring ones mentioned in the earlier post. I do not drive that car often and do not plan to do much of any High performance runs with it so no big deal as long as they work in the rain. If you are considering an intake I would also get the tune to go with it. Like the others said it makes a big difference. Good luck and welcome to the collective!!!
