You are right on with the 04 CV Sport. The line began the long slide downward in quality in 2005. I have several CV Sp and several 04 MM as well. Too bad to see the panther platform go away but the neglect and corner cutting really degraded what was a fine ride in 2004.

Thanks for the compliments. Just getting to the point where it's just a shame to have it garaged all the time. These cars draw too much attention from the wrong crowd. If you know what I mean....

First of all it is not a Grand National! It's a T type, a regal with some of the Grand National Equipment, engine etc. Still a nice car!

No one ever mentioned that it was a Grand National. Just saying. But I do get the clarigying point you're getting at.

Just4kix,

Don't see to many MM in the area. Are they are high-theft car like the mid 90's Impala's and Turbo Buicks?

Actually when they first came out they were a high theft vehicle according to an MSN report back in 2005.

But yeah they are harder and harder to come by. only 11k total 2003/2004.

My first car was a 1987 t-type from 16 to the age of 22 I loved that car then I sold it to finance my marauder rebuild 5 months ago. I could only let myself sell it cause I have an 84 gn that will one day be brought back to life pluse the t-tops leeked like a big dog and now i have a marauder out of it :cool4:

GREAT CARS!!

Not to cause trouble, but the subject/title is "1987 Buick Turbo T (aka GN/T-type)" - I read the "GN" as "Grand National" - I was confused too.

From what I've know, the Black GN's that most refer to were made in '84-'87. The T-Types (available 84-86) were mostly non-black colored cars have emblems on the fender that'll say T-Type) The T-Type designation was dropped in 87; those cars were called Turbo-T's and have a square emblem on the fender that'll say T. There are also black T-types and Turbo-T's; but they aren't GN's. A real GN has to have the Grand National emblems. But these turbo regals are all the same mechanically as far as engine, turbo, tranny and suspension from the factory.

GN's have to

As far as suspension goes, they are different. T-Types were not offered with the the thick sway bars and stiffers springs that Grand Nationals came with.
Different interiors as well.

The suspensions were the same from GN to type Ts i had both! grandnationals did have the exclusive color coded interiors

I also own both but i could be wrong, maybe an option between the two i have. Its always been said that most T Types were a tad quicker as well due to less options, aluminumm wheels, and aluminum bumper supports. Love these cars.

GNs and T-Types are identical mechanically...sway bars and all.

The T-Type was faster due to lighter aluminum wheels as opposed to the GN steel wheels, I think about 80lbs lighter.

I also have Aluminum rear brake drums in the rear of mine.
My car is BONE stock down to the same air filter type and muffler. The only mods that were done was a chip and sticky rear drag radials....12.98 ET.

I ordered my car at the end of production and waited 6 weeks for it to be delivered...took the day off from work and watched it come in off the truck.

Still runs and drives like new....great car!

Good times

Thanks for the complement. Just wish this was a perfect world where people can drive their cars whenever and wherever they want w/o having to worry about it getting it stolen and stripped for parts. Not in California at least. Some island like Maui maybe...
