But it was a very minor one. I was in a hurry to get to work, and I pulled out from a parking lot into the street and right in front of another car. He almost avoided me completly, but just grazed the plastic of the front bumper molding just above the passenger side fog lamp. That left a big scuff mark about the size of a pie plate.

These bumpers always show up a white color even w/the most minor scratches. While I had the car on the lift, I noticed that the whole bumber is white on the inside where it hasn't been painted. I would think that they can manufacture a plastic material that is simply black so when you got a scratch, you don't see it a mile away due to the plastic being white!

Anyway, now I have to figure out what I'm going to do w/this. I guess I'll first try the two different types of scratch remover that I have. However it looks too bad to be corrected by any scratch remover. I hope that I'm wrong about that, but if I'm not, then I assume that it's going to take touch up paint for this. Does anyone sell touch up paint in a spray can, or is all the paint available from the dealer in brushable paint only? I'd appreciate any advice on this. :( Ofcourse in the meantime I'll be contacting the dealer as well as the parts store. Does it matter weather I get the paint from the dealer, or from a parts store???

I doubt that scratch remover wikk do it. And paint in the spray can won't do it. I would recommend having the bumper removed and painted professionally. It will probably cost around $200.00 to do it right.

A friend of mine used to paint cars, and still has the equipment to do that(compressor, paint guns, respirators, etc). He owes me some $$ so maybe I'll call on him for this.

You'd be surprised just how much of that "scuff" mark will come out with liberal Clay bar usage... I had the same issue when a fedex truck grazed my car a few months ago in our parking lot.

Billy the question is ? Are you looking at a scuff mark or are you looking at your black paint being gone.
Try scuff remover, there is nothing to lose. If the paint is gone, it has to be put back.;)

I'm just glad it wasn't worse. Sucks getting hit at all, but I'm glad you didn't have anything dented.

Yep, that's exactly what I was thinking. It could've been a lot worse!
LOGAN and SMOKIE, thankyou very much for those tips. I'll have to tend to this.

Plasticoat works pretty good for minor touch ups. It is a basecoat/clearcoat application in spray cans. I haven't used it on the Marauder, but we did my brothers Navigator, with a little pre sanding, and careful application, you can see the repair.

Are you close to Jett, Marty, or FatBastid? They all know my trick. Jett did the same thing in Hershey last summer, I got most of it out, but his was way deep, and gouged into the plastic.

'3M SWIRL MARK REMOVER for dark cars' is the product I use. Use your fingers and rub hard until the product disappears and looks like a clear greasy film. Do not use any type of applicator, you'll burn the finish. Use your thumbs, or index and fu finger only! Press absolutely as hard as you can. Repeat.

If you try a compound, use your fingers as well, but don't rub too hard.

Hey, get what I've got out of my bumper. I was at taco bell and I pulled up into a parking space after getting my order to check it. I spilled gordita all over me and I walked out to get it off...leaving the car in drive. As I turn around to get back in the car, there it is...rolling away from me and SMACK right into the side of a speed limit sign. No scratch...just a gouge! I'm sitting there trying to hold it back by grabbing the B pillar. People were actually looking at me! Asses. Oh well, I wasn't the first one to do it, it was already half-way over when my car hit it:)

I would have rather pulled out really fast on someone;)

Nope, but I've got some other decent (and ) things on video:D No one hurt? I forgot to mention my pride! I had to fly outta there before I could check the damage because I was so embarrassed.

Woaface, thanks for sharing that. It did cheer me up a little. Unfortunately it was at your expense, but atleast your emotionaly secure enough to be able to laugh at yourself. That can't be said for a lot of people.

Cruztaker, thanks for that tip. Yesterday, I tried the scratch remover I have(McGuire's Scratch-X) and it worker better than I thought it would. You can still see it slightly IF you're looking for it, but it's no longer a row of white scratches sticking out like a sore thumb on a black car.

Next I'm going to try Blue Coral Scratch remover since that's better for deeper scratches because it has some abrasives in it. Then if I'm not completely satisfied, I'll try what Logan said, and if still no good, then the next step I think would be what Cruztaker said. nd of that still doesn't work, then it's time to use the touch up base coat, and then the clear coat that I just ordered online. But I might not have to even go that far.

Just w/the scratch remover it already looks a lot better, and since it's 15 degrees here in CT, I'm not really eager to start even a small project on my car right now. I just wanted it to look respectable for now, and then when I want to get picky w/it at a later date when the weather warms up a bit, than I could try to get it to where it's completely unnoticeable.

If you want to have it done well, I suggest you spend the 200 - 225 bucks to have the whole fender done. I bet it will be worth it.

Gordon: How do you know he wasn't hurt? He spilled gordita on himself. You know what that stuff can do to human flesh???
