I hope you guys don`t get to mad at me for being a mostly GM guy...but i do love the fox body Mustangs and the Marauders....

If you post in here try too share a story and post pics of your old hot rods...

Well i started back in 95 when i bought a brand new Impala ss.......couple month later i had a 100 shot of nitrous on it and had a blast but that was not enough,,then i built a 383 with a 125 shot and had a blast...but it wasn't`t enough.....so then i built a 396ci with a 150 shot and had a blast....but that was not enough so i freshened up the bottom end and built a 398ci with AFR 220 heads and a solid roller cam with a 150 shot and i notched the frame rails so i could put a 335/35/17 drag radial on it and this time i had a real blast:)........11;90 on motor and 10;82 on a 150 shot......

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f393/bigcowl-imp/IMG_0010.jpg

Then a few years later i bought another 95 impala that needed a motor and trans......well using all my old parts i put to gather a stock LT1 motor and had the trans rebuilt..........then i put a trailer hitch on it and off we went..........

Then things got tuff and got layed off for awhile......sold the stock impala then i sold the other one but i only sold the rolling chassi.......So when i got back to work i put the Lt1 motor in a notch back mustang....I ended having problems with the painless EFI wireing harness and this and that........so i parted it all out and put together a 2008 LS7 Zo6 motor and put a carb on it and a front mount distribtor AND LOVE IT.......NO more EFI......

heres the 2nd day i got it and i got it cheap but needed to be wet sanded then rubbed out...........

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f393/bigcowl-imp/92sspnotchbackand93notch002-1.jpg

Then i changed it to 5 lug

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f393/bigcowl-imp/92sspnotchbackand93notch034.jp g

no motor in it yet

After screwing around with EFI and this and that i parted out the motor, harness etc etc..........then i went to the carbed Ls7 motor

BUT then i tottaled that one screwing around on the street....tires started spinning after 2nd gear......

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f393/bigcowl-imp/Smashed%20Coupe/smashednotch002.jpg

So the only thing to do is what ??

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f393/bigcowl-imp/freshpaint006.jpg

Then i bought the $1,200 2 pc intake manifold and switched to a Dominator carb and the LS7 was back to running again......but better..
Heres some info on the motor.....

2008 429ci LS7 ZO6 motor converted to wet sump..factory cut crank, factory rods, factory rebuilt Ls7 heads, mild .620 lift hydrolic roller cam, pump gas, 4 mufflers, crank driven water pump, and carb...no monster tach...no shift light ....no trans brake.....
9.61@141 on motor......

BUT then i found out i had cancer and had no insurance at the time....so the car had to go.........sold it for $19,000............So now i have been doing keymo and radiation the last 9 months ......right now i have 4 more keymo treatments and then we see what the cancer did......just need to prey its all gone...........BUT about the last few months i have been bored with nothing to tinker with SSOOOO i bought a roller....

I was thinking of putting my Marauder motor in it but things change............i also have a couple LS3 short blocks and a bare block......its easier and cheaper to put the LS motor in then the 4.6.
plus they make headers for ls motor......plus i want to run a carb and front mount distributor again....

Wow!! That is some stable of cars. I love them all. Especially the Impys and the red Fox!!

I really really hope your fight with cancer comes to an end.

Are you on the Impala SS forum? I am. I go there from time to time. Same screen name for me.

I use to have a really mint 1997 Camaro SS with every SS option, obviously except for the LT4 model.

Sorry too about your cancer. I'm sure all will go well. :)

All nice rides to be sure. The minibike is close to my heart as I restored one myself when I was 14. I also had a go kart that remains my favorite Christmas gift of all time!

My wife had cancer 25 years ago, before I knew her. Thanks to God for her survival. My mother in law has it right now. Pancreatic. Not much hope unfortunately.

Here's a pic I found from 1965. Color's a bit off, but it was called Nassau Blue.

At age 22, I was heading to a wedding (as an usher) when my Mom (RIP) took this picture.

Unfortunately, I had my hubcaps stolen the night before in the parking lot pf Palisades Amusement Park.

327/300, 4sp, two tops, blue on blue, black convert top

That is sweet and did ever find new hub caps for it ??? still got it ??

Had to buy new caps. With my deductible, didn't get back a lot of money from my insurance policy.

Bought it in 65, sold it in 67 to get married (needed the money).

Replaced it with a 1966 Comet Cyclone convert leftover though my employer at the time, Ford.

But, I still have the same wife.

If I ever had the opportunity to own any car, that car would be it.

Has to be Nassau blue in and out, small block, roadster, two tops, no lower than a 3:55 rear, 4 sp, A/C not required. (I prefer a driver, not a strip car.)

When one like that crosses the block on the TV auction shows, I use my DVR to look at it over, and over, and over.....

Back then, my future bro/in/law had a 1967 fastback, yellow/black interior, 427/390, fastback, 4 sp, with A/C.

Great looking cars!!

Always liked the 'new age' Impalas....
I almost bought a '96 Impala SS, but I needed a 4WD truck for my job so I bought a 4.3 Vortec Blazer.

I love notchback Stangs too!
How close to the stock hood was the carb on the LS7 motor?

BTW: You mounted the distributor on the wrong end of the engine.....:P

Actually, I understand why....the LS motors pack a lot of cubes and HP for the least amount of money.

To build an equivalent FORD engine would take a bored and stroked 351W with a good set of AFR heads.....not a cheap investment.

If (most likely soon) I sell my 1/2 of the 427 Cobra to my brother, the proceeds will go towards exactly that....a 427 or maybe even a 460 Windsor for my '85 GT Stang.
It'll get a set of Kaase P38 heads for a 650 - 700 HP N/A SBF....

Thanks Joe

With the first GM carb intake i had on it the carb would have stuck out of the stock hood about 2 inches but with the 2 pc cnc intake and Dominator carb it would have stuck out about 6 inches...

I like the notch's but did you have to put an LS in them to slo them down

So going 9.61 at 141mph on motor is slow ? Thats useing a stock GM crank stock Gm rods stock rebuilt heads stock rocker arms stock lifters stock timing chain and gears stock GM block........Plus the car was easier to sell and worth more money.......I had $16,500 into the car and sold it for $19,000 and it took 2 weeks to sell it.

Why do you think i did it again ?? Plus its a fun project and keeps me bizzy..

About 4 month ago i come across a 96 Caprice for sale and the guy said it was vary clean but had a hurt motor....car looked mint in the pics that i seen so i went over and checked it out.....he had the motor pulled out and it had a spun main bearing so the block and crank was junk... The car itself was near mint and i loved the color..... its a 96 Caprice Classic and i was in love.... I told the guy i would think about ......few days later he texted me with a lower price and i never said anything..........few days later he text again with a lower price and i never said anything......about a week later he texted again but this time i could not believe b
how low he went......this time text back and told him if he leaves the stereo system in it i will come get it......two days later he said come get it......

Hey been following your thread. I am your neighbour upstairs.
I have an 03 mm (not worth posting pics...its black, look like everyones belly button.lol)
I have a 95 Caprice SS clone. Actual 9C1.
My son and I built his first car. a 79 Malibu....
And I am sick too. Not cancer but still an invisible disease non the less.(no cure)
but everyday is a new day. everyday i wake up smiling and pray things go well
My moto is fall 7 times, get up 8.
I pray (as a christian) your health gets better and stays better.
I don't know what ya do for a living but your hobby dictates you dont make hamburgers and if you do you serve Filet Mignon's.
Either way. I love your builds and your motives.
Im sure like me...you found some things out the hard way getting sick.
I like you find solice in cars. They can't lie, hurt or abuse me.
Keep the post and pics coming....sunny side up my friend

Haaa howdy neighbor......wish you lived closer because you sound like a great guy...That Caprice looks vary close to mine...what is the color called ??

I'm christian also and hope your health gets better and stays better...

Before i got sick i did EDM and wire EDM ......Worked mostly in plastic injection mold shops,, worked at Roush for a few years and then worked at Williams International ...machining parts and building jet engines....

Looks like a vary clean and low mile Marauder ?

CHSurvivor

sorry haven't gotten back to you sooner. My apologies.

The Caprice just sold last week.Sold it with snows and 9C1 wheels
I still have the centerlines with new rubber. I want $1000 for them.
The tires here are $1100 plus tax...so its a decent price for all 4 tires, rims lugs, centers, spacers, center caps....everything to bolt on and go.
I am on the hunt for a P71 or Matrix or whatever I find for a daily driver.
I had to pull the MM out of storage to find another vehicle then it goes back for the winter. First time I had to drive it in the rain since we bought it. Just had to spray wax it it/dust it as we only drove it on nice days.
I love the MM. Always wanted one since they came out. Being it was a 1 owner senior owned car....It wasn't beat.
I plan on keeping it only if a 65-72 El Camino with bench 4 speed comes my way. Its my wifes dream car....Be only car Id trade for.
Like my Caprice(impala ss). I always wanted one...now i have had one.
Plus we have my sons car in the summer to drive. He turns 16 on Wednesday. If it wasn't for stupid insurance laws here he would be driving his own.
IN Canada we have graduated licensing and classic (Hagerty) has restrictions on old auto insurance. Min 10 years driving exp. We pay $140 a year for his car insured at $8000. But if he gets his own insurance which that Malibu will never see any bad weather ever and used 100% for shows, cruises etc. His insurance is $5000 a year. Insane for a car driven 2000 km a year at best. This year was 1500 kms. So probably for a few years we will insure it but...he can't drive his own car....crappy.
BTW....Love your collection....very impressive.
Hope your felling well. Being sick can really suck.
