Does the brand or type of high flow cat really matter? Gonna be putting two in an x-pipe but wasnt sure if it matters what brand or whatever. Thanks.

I have Magnaflow's on mine. You should consider replacing the rest of the system. Make it all 2.5 pipe.

Magnaflow is a well respected brand for cats.

If you are getting rid of all four cats and keeping the stock manifolds for now I would use the Magnaflow cat p/n 59956. If you are going to keep the front cats on but hack off the rear then there is no need to add any cats. In the end you only want two cats on the car, either two stock or two aftermarket ones.

I've got a set of cobra shorties going on and gonna get an xpipe but wasnt sure what cats to put in it. Was thinking of just going with some cheap Thunderbolt cats off ebay. Like 37.99 a piece plus shipping. Already got a set of Magnaflow mufflers and gonna keep the stock pipe from the mufflers back. Can't wait...

P.s. would I need to get cats with an o2 bung? The xpipe will have bungs on it already but will the sensors reach?

Don't cheap out on cats cause they could bite you in the azz down the road and go bad.

As far as the O2 bungs, the front drivers side one is in the exhaust manifold itself, front passenger sits directly behind the manifold. The shop you are having the work done by should be able to put bungs in the downtubes (pipes leading off from the headers), the first set of O2 sensors must be in front of the cats, the rear set of O2 sensors behind the cats.

What Chris said. ^^^^^ Spend the extra bucks for a good set of cats, like the old saying goes, "you get what you paid for."

Magnaflows, FTW.

If the first set of sensors are before the cats, and the second set is turned off in the tune, then why do you need cats at all? I want to put Kooks or SW headers on mine and don't wants cats if I don't need them. I know the headers come equipped with bungs to screw the o2 sensors in.

Get the downpipes for cobra shorties that have the cats and O2 bungs in them perhaps?
You also have the EGR to reroute or delete.

You need cats (at least 2) to pass the visual inspection if your state does car inspections.

No visual inspections here.:)

I was thinking about these cats here

They seem pretty decent quality and price wise

Where the two cats would go those O2 bungs in the cats would be useless. Both sets of the O2 sensors will end up being in front of the cats.

These are the cats I was talking about earlier and I have on my car.

So then these might be better

Not looking to go crazy price wise on a set of cats

Yes but it's on the other side than factory - so you need to delete it or fab up a pipe to reconnect the EGR from the other side.

Ahhh ok never realised that...if I delete it I can just put an egr delete plate on it correct? Will I need to have that code turned off in the tune?
Will deleting it make it use more fuel?

I would think that these would work too.

I use these and they are great! Polished stainless heatshield is good underbody bling as well. I make good power and believe Magnaflow has a good product.

Hey babbage I just checked and my egr bung is on the drivers side shorty header, is that the side it is on for the marauder?

Ok so I checked, The new headers I have have an egr bung on the drivers side but not an o2 sensor bung on the drivers side so that o2 sensor will have to hook into the xpipe I am getting so I should be ok correct? I'm getting this x pipe...

Will that X pipe bolt up to the KOOKS headers???

That's a x-pipe for a Mustang GT. You need a mid-pipe for the 03/04 Cobra/Mach 1 which share the same manifolds. The 2v is narrower then the 4v.

Will that X pipe bolt up to the KOOKS headers???
No but Kooks mid-pipe would.
