just like the title says does anyone know if they are the same? i figure if ford changed the designation of the trans then the parts (all be it slim) would be different? i am looking at doing a fluid and filter change soon and this information would be handy since all that pulls up at the parts store is for a 4r70 not a 75. now dont blaze me for search is your friend because i did and all that pulls up out of the 40+ pages is how they are compared to each other but nothing about the gasket and filter thanks tnbigbody

Yep. The only differences are actually just some of the internal parts.

Fluid is Mercon V.

The pan gasket is designed to be reusable. It even says so right on the pan.

Yep.

Unless the factory gasket is hinky, you should reuse it.

Plus, the gaskets that come with the replacement filters suck. When you get under there and start trying to use one, I am sure you will agree.

Also, be sure to clean the pan out really well when you do the trans service. Don't panic if you see the graphite looking material unless there are some course chunks of metal.

I am so used to replacing gaskets just to be on the safe side. but is it still OK to use sealant like rtb? Atleast on the pan? I just don't like to have to drop the pan again after the job has been finished due to leaking. Which is why I usually replace the gaskets

I understand about the clutch material on the pan mag I changed the fluid on a marquis that I had for a few years and a few others

Re use the gasket or buy one from Ford. No need for rtv

I just don't like to have to drop the pan again after the job has been finished due to leaking. Which is why I usually replace the gasketsI've dropped the pan on these transmissions dozens of times for my own cars and those of friends. Never had a gasket leak except once, and that was using the gasket supplied with an aftermarket filter.
