I have a headlight bulb that the High/low has failed on from DDMtuning
And although it has a warranty I have to take it out and send it to them and wait for them to agree it is bad to send me a replacement
Since I am not thrilled to gut the setup and replace it with something else my options are to buy another bulb, install it and send them the bad one so I have a spare or pull the bad one out and drive one eyed until my replacement comes in.
DDM says this is usually 7-10 days.

So, if you are considering DDMtuning HIDs ya might want to buy a spare bulb or 2.

By the way, the bulbs are only sold in pairs @$35 plus $17 shipping
The complete kit with ballasts was $60 and $18 shipping so I went with a complete set.

Not overjoyed.

So now I get their RMA email.
It says return both the faulty bulb and the working one for warranty.
The further down it says there is a charge of 2.50 for each item tested that isn't bad?
he way I read it, i am to return a working and a non working bulb and I will be charged $2.50 for them to tell me the bulb I know is good isn't at fault.

Here is their email.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us about the difficulty you are experiencing with one of our products. We apologize for these troubles and look forward to providing you with the needed replacement parts so you can enjoy your DDM Tuning products as soon as possible.

***TROUBLE-SHOOTING***
If you haven't already done so, before returning any parts, please trouble-shoot the problem to identify the part that is responsible for the problem. This usually involves swapping the bulbs or ballasts from side to side to determine if the problem tracks with the bulb or the ballast.

***WARRANTY POLICY***
We test the returned parts. All returned parts that prove to be functional will be returned to the customer at the customer's expense (this includes shipping and handling costs). The costs for those returns is noted below. For additional information regarding our Warranty and Return Policy, please visit our website: http://www.ddmtuning.com/index.php?p=page&page_id=return_policy . Thank you very much for your cooperation.

***SPECIAL NOTE REGARDING BULBS and BALLASTS and LIGHT ASSEMBLIES***
If you are returning a faulty bulb, please be sure to return BOTH BULBS--the working bulb and the faulty bulb.

For High/Low Bulbs, please keep the High/Low harness if the harness is functional. If the High/Low harness is defective, please return the harness.

For High/Low Bulbs, if the bulbs are functional and the High/Low harness is defective, please return only the High/Low harness.

If you are returning a faulty ballast, please return ONLY the defective ballast.

Unless otherwise specifically authorized by DDM Tuning, please do NOT return the following items: functional ballasts, functional bulbs (unless it's the mate to a faulty bulb), the adapter wires that connect the stock wiring to the ballast, and HID accessory wiring harnesses. If you are unsure as to what to return, we will be happy to advise you further.

For wiring harnesses, before shipping for a warranty claim, please confirm that the control box (for a H/L harness) and relay (for an accessory HID harness) is not corroded. Corrosion is not covered under the warranty.

If you are returning tail lights or headlights, please be sure to return the entire set unless we have approved other arrangements. For instance, for tail lights, please return both the passenger and driver side lights and, if they were part of the set, the trunk lights.

That is some real BS right there. I have been considering the HID kit from them. But now after reading your post on a warranty issue. Forget it. I'll stick with stock lighting now.

Sorry for your hassle.

That's one reason I decided to wait on these or any headlight upgrades.

I had one bulb that had a broken Hi low rod.
They asked me to send both in, even though the other one was fine.
Apparently the reason they ask for both bulbs is that the color temp can vary a bit from batch to batch, they want them to match.
I would call them, I found them very easy to work with and no hassles. They never charged me for the working bulb.
A great experience for me with DDM, I will continue to do business with them!

I know Jim. Your kit is is top notch also. My thing is that I already ordered all my leds from them so I just ordered HIDs also. Thus was before you came out with yours. Had I known you would have offered a kit I would have waited for it because I know you put your products through test and trials before even considering selling them.

I did call them and really didn't have any luck getting them to work with me.

I ordered another complete kit so I had a complete plug N play repair set on tap as I have a few trips in the next 6-8 weeks and taking the time to swap out the whole mess didn't fit into my immediate schedule.

So when all is said and done I will have 2 complete HID headlight kits for under $200.

I am just not happy with the warranty procedure.

Just have to ask what makes them the "absolute best HIDs"? Are they installed on your Marauder?

It is a good idea regardless to have a spare backup bulb or set when running HID bulbs as you can just go out and replace them.

They have always required both bulbs be sent back, even their warranty small fine print says the only replace bulbs in pairs so they can continue to warranty the replacements.

The kit I installed for Whitey a few weeks ago had a completely different bulb design, which is the 3rd different bulb design I have seen in the past 4 years. The plug for the actuator on the hi/lo harness is different as well.

I had one of my ballast for my fog lights go bad on my kit from DDM...just didn't feel like going thru the box it up, send it back, let them test it routine and went back to the stock set-up. I still have their kit in my headlights but have my stock bulbs on stand-by just in case.

Still a good kit for the money...I guess

I know it doesnt make you happy but I find this to be the nrom with any co. youre dealing with anymore. Parts go bad & cant lay blame on them for that. Alot of these places have gotten scammed in the past trying to play nice guy. If any one is to be upset with I would point the finger at all the scammers out there as they have made alot of things in any business different in the past few years just to many people out there trying to make a buck or get something for free. Sorry to hear of youre issues. I had a kit from them in my wifes Taurus and it was great.

although i feel your pain, i think theres more to it than trying to steal $2.50 from you. like ctrlraven said, his plugs are different than mine, and coming from china, their quality control might not be top notch on being exact color matches.....i have a spare bulb....just throwing it out there that if anybody needs to "borrow" a 5000K let me know........this would mean you could still use the 1 hid i send you while you send both of yours back for a replacement.--whitey

Mine don't even match that I got from DDM, otherwise they are fine, but one is maybe 5K, and the other 6K, very obvious. They wanted me to send them both in but I really don't feel like going back to stock for that period of time, so for now they look stupid.
