If you like the sound of true V8 horsepower, then you'll luv how your car sounds w/those 18" Magna flow mufflers IF they are the straight-thru design ones w/out the baffles. That's what I have, and EVERYBODY that I know, and many who I don't know always tell me how great my car sounds. Ofcourse I already know that, but obviously I'm not the only one who feels that way.
Magnaflow also makes 18" mufflers that have baffles so that's why I've made mention of this. I think these straight-thru design 18" Magnaflows are perfect. They aren't loud at idle, or when you step on the gas very slightly, but when you get into the gas pedal halfway, or more, the car lets out a nice gurgling trumpet like V8 growl that is very impressive and powerful sounding. I've encountered guys in other cars behind me on the road or on side of me who exibited driving behaviour like they wanted to challenge me, and then when they heard me get into the gas pedal even half way, they backed right off.
Another reason why I think these mufflers sound perfect is the fact that they don't give any crackling or popping noises after you let off the accelerator after a WOT blast like some mufflers do. So I think you'll really like them since you sound to me like you're as much into high performance as I am.

This "straight-through" design.....If I'm just sitting in park and rev the engine a few times, does it give me that "hotrod rumble" that sounds so good?
BillyGman
02-01-2004, 01:28 PM
Yes, it does. It will even sound different when it first starts up since the engine revs a little bit initially on these cars during the start up. If you have the mufflers in your possesion, then open the box, and just take a flashlight or remove the shade on a lamp, and put the light on one end of the muffler while looking in the other, and if they're the straight-thru design, then you'll be able to see right through them tothe other side. But if they're the ones w/the baffles, the you won't.

Well now that this thread has gone to the DOGS (literally), if you all don't mind, I'd like to be of further help to our sister board member here by adding this:
Mchick, incase you need to look up the part # for those baffless mufflers you can go to the Magnaflow website......... www.magnaflow.com and go to the home page, and at the top tool bar click on "products" and then on the next window click on "Universal fit mufflers" and then click on "Stainless steel mufflers" and in the chart for the 4"x9" oval muffs you'll see that the part # is 14355 which are 2.25" inlet/outlet mufflers. The 2.25" inlets can be "bull-nosed" to accomadate a 2.5" muffler pipe if you choose to increase the diameter of that like most of us have, and the 2.25" outlets can be welded onto the 2.25" diameter tailpipes that our cars have.
If you get tired of the dogs on here, and you need further assistance, then feel free to send me a PM if you like........... uhmm, now I guess it's back to the dog pound for this thread.
