thinking of getting a marauder. saw one years ago and thought it looked pretty sweet, but until i was recently offered to buy one i didn't know how bad they were. the more i read the more i want one.

so, here's what i'm looking at (opinions appreciated), 03 52k 1 owner, needs an engine (i'm told). any ideas on worth. yes it is a very clean car no visible signs of damage.

I think that I'd pass on an MM with 52K that needs an engine. Need more detail on what caused the problem. Would also be very wary that the engine problem may point to other abuse that may not be as obvious. Bears checking out really well to track the vehicle history using the VIN. Check the pedigree and the title papers really well too.

If all else checks out, unless you can get this MM really cheap ... it may not be worth the net cost to you after replacing the engine for $5000-$7000.

JMHO.

KBB Private Party ranges from $12,500 (Very Good condition) to $11,175 (Fair condition) for an '03 MM with 52K miles. Subtracting the estimated cost of replacing the engine .... I think pricing in the $4,175 to $5,000 range may be appropriate. You may be able to do better on the engine cost so you can adjust accordingly. MOMHO

Just curious, what are they asking for the car with no engine? May be better off looking for one in good running order unless the price is really cheap.

was told the the twenty something old son was driving home from college and it started overheating. he didn't know what to do so he tried making it home. he didn't make it. i stopped by and looked at it without rose colored glasses. someone mis-spoke or mis-heard, it has 62k, one small dent in the fender and some light scratches a buddy said he thinks he could rub out pretty easy. no one was home so i didnt get to pop the hood. i may just buy it take it to my mechanic and if i'm lucky he could repair it. he wants to see it before i pick up and engine. he said he wouldn't go more than a grand but i don't think he knows the market for parts on these things. 80 percent rubber on front 50-60 percent on rear.

$2,500?

Dang! Snap that rascal up! You could buy an Aluminator and have it installed and still be near book value at that asking price.

probably the same thing any 20 something would do. drive it like he stole it!!!
i will buy it have my mechanic go over it and either fix it or sell some parts and recoup my money.
