Yesterday Landy and I pulled my motor from the MM and it was the worst day ever. I was heartbroken to see her naked like that. Lol. She will be all decked out before long though.
Motor was sold to a local friend for his MM and I'll be going with an aluminator with the ysi blower.:flamer:
What different intercooler beside Dr's ice vex would you guys consider putting in there?
I got a bigger Maf ,injectors and plans for a bigger fuel system already just worried the intercooler isn't big enough for the setup.

Here are some pics from last weekend of the de- install or un-install.

For some reason it won't let me copy and paste pictures from my photo album here on the .net.

So here is the link or please go to my album under the photos tab so you guys can see this engine pull. It breaks my heart to see it come out. But I'm sure Ed is happy. Thanks for the help Landy.

Not yet Motown. Need money. Almost there though. My buddy rushed me a bit because he needed my motor now. His wasn't gonna make. So I pulled it way ahead of schedule. So now my MM sits naked for a while. Gives me more time to go all out with the build. Anybody have any suggestions on an intercooler?

Levi i have info on a better intercooler than the icevex.i will call you later.
here are more pics
the first two pics are the intake that i ported for Levi and netted him a 20rwhp gain on the dyno.

I made 605 rwhp @ 18 lbs with that ice vex intercooler. Now I have my intake ported a bigger and better intercooler and I have alky control meth kit. I will be running 99.99 % meth not the boost juice and i also went ahead and put the head studs on the heads for the :nos: I should have final numbers by the end of the week.

Our cars should be done by the end of the summer. We need to have a GA vs Fl grudge match at Valdosta race Track.

Nice pics - you are the man Landy. 20 rwhp - on that intake wow - looks great too. That's huge. I can't wait to get mine back, na_svt is doing it, hope I get the same gains.

Did you have to do anything to the head ports? (I hope not)

Very nice work Landy! Thats some of the better gains I have seen from ported intakes. YSI head unit is a awesome choice, If I hadnt done a Whipple/Eaton swap It would have been A centri set up with the YSI. Good Choice..

^^^^^^YSI baby my mod fox has one non stop pull to 8K
I would go with a liquid cooler over the air to air, try this company

FROZENBOOST.COM elaborate, why would you go air to water instead of air to air?
Air to air is the simplest and most reliable in anything other than a PD blower.

I seen how most people will use a air to air cooler a see 3-4 psi drop across the core as they cheap out on a good quality cooler, sometime there maybe no choice as space maybe an issue, but I've seen alot of set up pick up over air to air even when the liquid cooler is mounted in the engine bay.
The vortech cars I've had never really worked well with air to air,but then again it all depends on how good the intercooler are.
Why would you say that liquid coolers are not reliable?
My vortech car with the power cooler has never given me any problems, intact I had an air to air on it before and picked up with the powercooler from vortech.
With all the improvements with air meters and most cars now a days running them upstream the air to air coolers seem to run alot better than a decade ago.

I understand the lost of boost when people cheap out, but like you said with the right intercooler there is no much boost lost.
I never said air to water cooled wasn't reliable. I just like simplicity and reliability and that's what air to air is best at.

In a hot summer enviroment A2A is plain sense IMO. All the Vortechs I had that had Liquid cooled Had excessive IAT's on hot days. Spin them blowers up to 20psi you start making some heat & A2A will atleast cool to pretty darn close to ambient with a correct size intercooler.

On an n/a combo it's impossible to get 20rwhp from just a ported intake. With FI it can be done especially if the boost level is 15psi or greater.

Core size is everything even with the liquid ones, but i see what your saying, but at 20 psi in the heat that a2a would have a hard time as well as the motor now is being robbed of the cooling from the large a2a,now if you were talking the vortech power cooler then you would run cooler with the a2a as the power cooler is hard pressed to keep up with the s trim when spinning it,but if you try the aftermarket liquid ones they are a hugh difference.
again it all comes down to preference and fitment.

Air to water intercoolers have never been a good choice for a street car, but great at the track where you have time to cool down, for a true street car an air to air setup will always work better when sized with the right intercooler.

With an A to A so long as the car is moving you have an unlimited source.

We tried to use the old air/water but the TTrim at 19PSI was making too much heat, 220* at the end of the 1/4 and 170* on the Dyno. Non-IC Mustangs will produce this temp.

We switched to Air to Air, 110* on the Dyno and 155* at the end of the 1/4.

Meth then dropped it 50* to 20* above ambient.
