For those who have painted their's did you use the Dupli-Color, VHT or G2 paint/kits?

I plan on painting the caliper and caliper bracket black. I've read with the Dupli kit a better brush is needed than what comes with the kit. Haven't heard much on the VHT and with the G2 kit you need to have everything cleaned and ready to go as it is a 2-part epoxy setup.

I used dupicolor. Attached brush to dremmel and cleaned it up. Then cleaned with water and alcohol. Let it dry and painted away. Its chipped from road debri so I.rec powder coating if you have ability

Didn't think about using a dremmel to clean them, was just going to use wire brushes and sand paper. I think the G2 kit might be too much cause I would probably be able to do two in one day as I wouldn't take them off the car, just remove the tire and unbolt the caliper.

I used duplicator on mine. Went with silver. Wire brushed the calipers as best as possible, blew off the rest of the dirt with an air gun, couple applications of primer then a couple coats of the silver and I was done. Cleaning them thoroughly was the hardest part. It's been a couple of months and they still look great for a DD.

I use dupli. Spray some degreaser and use a hard brush

VHT on mine.

Key with any paint is to make sure the surfaces are CLEAN. Sprayed mine down with brake cleaner, scrubbed with soap and water, repeated, and still had some flaking the first go-'round. Re-did them last spring and the now paint's holding up well.

I used BBQ grille paint the first time, lasted for years and 60k miles on the Mark8
I used high temp engine paint on the MM 20 thousand miles ago, they were powder coated when I bought the car and it had started chipping off.

G2 or VHT would be my recommendation.

Looks like I'll be going with VHT since I will be doing one brake unit at a time.

What color You thinking of?...and I used dupli and worked just fine I mean I went with color choice rather than brand. pretty much when comparing try and go with which paint can hold at the highest temperature

The problen with power coating is the heat. Powder coating is applied with heat and when you heat up your brakes you are re heating the power coating and it get brittle after a while and chips easier. I just happen to manage a small powercoating co so im going that route. But I have not had time to get them done yet

Just spray black easy as that Just make sure the paint you choose can handle high temperatures...Hhhmmm what if you paint the calipers black and the bracket yellow? I think that would look pretty neat..but by the end of your day your car your call bro

i actually took my caliper off and sprayed them black also, i used rustoleum engine enamel(up to 500*F) and same temperature clear coat, mine have been holding up pretty good for about 6 months on the front bracket and recently 3 weeks ago on the calipers, i did not take off rear caliper bracket, didnt have right tools and was running out of time

G2 here, 3/4 years ago. A couple chips, but still shiney. If you can't remove them all, clean, and be ready to go brushing on 2-3 coats and leaving sit over night, then I would not get the G2 as it will be dried up in no time.

Mikey, are we there yet???
