I installed my springs today!!
I the only catch was my new spring compressor, it started to flex pretty bad as we compressed the spring. The stock springs on the marauder are really stiff!! At sight of the compressor flex we backed off. We then took the shocks to a local garage and they swapped out the springs in less than an hour. It was 60.00 for both spring to be swapped but I didn’t feel that it was too bad because they did it on a moments notice.
If you have the shop manual it a pretty straight forward install. The manual gae all the steps to removal and the proper torque specs.
The first side took 1.5 to 2 hours to remove. The second took 20 min. Its funny how much faster something goes after working out all the needed steps. Putting them back took maybe 35 min per side. It took longer to get everything torqued down to spec.
I took her for a little ride tonight and it’s exactly like I had hoped! The car stays really flat in corners and has allot less nose dive. So far it seems to me that the nice ride is still intact. I will report back after taking it to work Monday. There are quite a few bumpy roads along my commute.
I lowered both my Hondas as well as my last car that was a mustang. The Hondas both had Eibach’s and it firmed up the ride quite a bit but it was still not too bad. The H&R springs I had on my mustang destroyed the ride of the car. They were way too stiff.
I still need to bring the rear down to the proper height and install the swaybar. I am going to try and get to that in the morning. Or maybe I will wait till next weekend to see if I can feel a further improvement.
Also next weekend I will have her aligned. I have been told by some suspension guys that the newer springs are really good and they really don’t settle or sag too much. But I will give it a week or so anyways.
This is my first real mod to this car so I have a long way to go but I could not be happier with it sofar.
