Dont know of a downside of having pulleys.

Had them on my vic for years and loved them!

Your only downside can come if you either don't install it correctly or have serious issues with a different pulley on your accessory system. It can be a nightmare hunting down something as silly as a squeeky pulley or why serpentine belts keep going south in short periods of time.

Ultimately, when installed correctly on an engine in good shape (read: accessory drive system is good to go), it's a great cheap way to free back up a noticeable amount of power. I'm not kidding about the noticeable part either.

There is NO downside.

Same as installing 4.10's.

Only thing you'll need to do is bump up your idle speed a bit, as voltage output will drop under accessory load (i.e. A/C, lights, etc in use) at idle with U/D pullies; but NBD, easily adjusted via your tuner.

Downside is if you use a cheap set which replaced the crank pulley/harmonic dampener with a non dampening pulley.

Can damage the thrust bearing if you install the crank pulley wrong I even have the proper tool but it has no metric thread inserts :(

Removing the balancer bolt can be a tricky job without an impact gun.

Once you get a tune, bump your idle in drive up to 800 rpms. The pro is less mass is spinning which equals more power, not a lot but still an increase none the less.

What others have said +.... if you ever plan to go SC, you will need to take them off. Which is the reason I didn't do 4.10's or UD's, I had a plan, as I am sure you do.

Thank guys for the info. Another question I had how would this mod affect my car on a 4hr road trip I talked to my mechanic (dad) he practically threw me under a bus about the idea. i assured him after a tune everything should run easy. Am I wrong?

If cruising, won't even know you've got 'em.

I had a set on my car for 50,000 miles before going S/C, and never had any issues. As has been pointed out by others, need to make sure they're installled correctly, otherwise, NBD.

Innovators West is the damper to get for high horsepower.

No cons. I enjoyed them before my Eaton swap.

I haven't noticed any issues with dim lights, but the power steering got a little stiff around corners. Bumping up the idle 100 rpm seems to have solved this.

A small diameter damper will not cause any charging problems so there is no need to increase the idle RPM.

Steeda's alt pulley is the same diameter as the Mach alt pulley and probably the same diameter as the marauder alt pulley also.

I recommend the March #1158 fluid damper and their large diameter water pump pulley. I've run one for years and have had no negative issues with it.
