<flamesuit on> Here's the end result of the Tremac T-56 Magnum install in my Marauder. WOW. This has done more to wake up the car than anything else I've done to it. The performance, while not at the level of a supercharger is awesome. The scan gage shows 31-34 mpg in 6th gear at 60 mph, while at 70 mph it shows 29-31 mpg. Rpms with 4.10 gears are 1500 @ 60 and 1800 @ 70. The seat of the pants meter even with bald tires is just flat out impressive. There were a few missteps in the process, but all appears to be functioning now. For those who prefer shifting, this is the way to go.

Was this the project that was undertaken by Dennis Reinhart? I seem to recall a thread in his forum with pictures and also on the Crown Vic.net. But, the man and his pictures of this project are gone from both sites.

After viewing your pictures, yes it is Dennis' work. Glad the project finished OK and works well. This was a huge undertaking.

This looks like the Dennis Reinhart project I was following in thread 71788. I too am very interested in this. To me, this is more exciting than a supercharger. I really don't like automatic transmissions (or maybe just this one) - Even with a tune. Maybe because it's a 3-speed (overdrive hardly counts). I'd love to row through the gears! Glad this turned out so well.

Gee, thanks for sharing with fellow members.

It's your car right? Then you could say what it took to make it all happen, for the members that are interested.

Since we already know his number, keep it.

Norman confirmed with me it is the DR build. The finished product looks great. I think Norman is a patient man ...

I know a couple of others have done the job in a shorter time period and I assume cheaper.

I wish they came with a manual transmission from the factory. I will not supercharge (CARB and cost issues) but doing this is on my wish list.

So is there a legal way to do a supercharger on a car thats not a CARB approved set up in Nazifornia?

Is there a fee an owner can pay or certain license plate with limited driving per year an owner can apply for?

How does that work?

I think the Trilogy is the one CARB certified. You can get others certified, but you negotiate with them and show them 'look the car is cleaner than it was new'. It takes effort and a lot of work.

I like the Trilogy, just with three little boys, I can not afford it.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Ok. So it can be done. Just a pain in the rear. Gotcha. Thanks.

Congrats on the install!

I would like to convert my Rauder to a six speed but being it is a DD at this time it's not possible right now.

In the future, I will definetly want to do this mod and hopeful there will be more who have chosen to do this mod with all the instructions/modifications/re-programs all worked out.

The pictures are in my forum the hardest part was the clutch pedal which has been perfected, and is easily done. Mcleod Techs hepled me a lot we kept breaking the clutch master cylinder it works perfect now, I am doing a 03 SC CV with a five speed out of a 05 GT Mustang in the summer.

If you do the math ,you just added :banana2: horses and improved drivability [automatics take an estimated 23 to 28 horses out of an engine depending on the make and model auto ]

Automatics don't take a set number of power, but a percentage. It varies based on automatic models, but parasitic losses are quite high. An unlocked converter with a higher stall may yield considerably more slip than a locked up efficient trans. A TH400 will take more to turn than a TH350 or C4, etc.

Although I wish it were only 23-28!

(As an example, we took a C6Z with a 6 speed that made 1005 to the tire. Upon swapping in the 4L80E Transmission, power was "reduced" to 831 at the tires. Now the car went considerably faster in the 1/4, the parasitic losses were quite high.)

You mention a clutch master cylinder... I take it you went hydraulic (I know, I amaze myself sometimes), how come you didn't go for the mustang cable setup? Wouldn't the pedal assembly ordeal have been largely eliminated that way?

What about the electronics part - does the speedo work - and was the computer able to talk to the electronic output on this tranny?

I like how the boot came out; I'd suggest seeing if you can have a billet aluminum ring made custom to go around it, would look sweet. Kinda like this:

http://c1385782.cdn.cloudfiles.racksp acecloud.com/lrs-04424bl_9143.jpg

last but not least, which t56 version did you get, 2.97 1st gear or 2.66? and which 6th gear? 0.62 or 0.5? :) Either way, congrats, I love those trannys. I have the 2.97/0.62 in the mach, along with 4.30s, and the gearing is bang on perfect for the street.

^^^ The mustang cable setup will make your left leg beg for mercy after about 5 minutes of driving.

I've driven several mustangs and a cobra and I had a 2002 Z28 camaro with a 6 spd and the camaro was a dream compared to the mustang.

It can be a pain in traffic depending on the clutch you use, but I found the 03 cobra clutch to not be so bad...
