View Full Version : Marauderville X (MV 10) -- Just Thinking and Planning

We're about 6 months out from the biggest Marauder event of the year. This year is gonna be special --- 'cause its the 10th Annual Meeting of Marauder owners and enthusiasts known as Marauderville.

Marauderville X (MV 10) is 12-16 September 2012 in South Haven, Michigan.

Can't wait to start hearing the hype on this event. Start your planning now.

Do we have a "tentative" itinerary set up yet. Inquiring minds want to know what's in store for this year's big event.

The trip is right at 700 miles for me. I plan to bust it up into 2 days.

Will depart on 11 September 2012 and take the I-70 to I-80 route. Looks like maybe an overnight at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Toledo-South/Maumee, OH area before continuing on to South Haven, MI on the 12th. Plan to arrive between 1:00-2:00 PM on 12 September.

Anyone interested in linking up for the trip?

+1, Prolly will have some announcements at Louisville.

We're planning to head up to Wisconsin the week before, visit some folks, and then take the ferry from Manitowoc across to Michigan. Anybody interested in joining us, lemme know, this may be the last year that the ferry runs.

^^^ your right, let's see now.........

(f(x)/g(x) = f'(x)g(x)-g'(x)f(x)/g2(x) therefore A=4 Pii r2 and V=450/22 Pii r3 when SA = pii rs + pii r2 and V= 4.00/43 Pii r 2 h. In base b f(x)= LOG b x f (x) 1/xIn b.

I see my mistake now, it should be $172.00 one way for gas. Much better.

I live in Hampton, VA. Driving options to get anywhere are kind of limited. You can either drive to Richmond/D.C. (east) or drop down thru North Cackalacky. Very scenic, the N. C. route. I've taken that to west TN to visit mom. Anyway, there's no clear straight shot from here to Michigan.

Charlie, I've already found hotel in Maumee, OH right off the interstate. That's about as far as we'll go on Sept 11th. Then arrive in South Haven around 1-2, just as you figured.

It's 693 miles one way for us, so we, too are breaking up the trip. Haven't decided if we'll drive straight through on Sunday evening yet (Sept 16th). If we stay somewhere, it will be eastern Ohio or West Virginia. We stayed in St. Clairsville, OH way out to and on the way home from MV-7. That was right off Route 70; since we will be more north this time, maybe somewhere near Akron--any suggestions from our Ohio buddies?

You forgot to carry the 1 in step 8....

Can we at least go ahead and have a new thread/forum set aside for MVX? Posting stuff about MVX in the MV9 forum/thread makes as much sense as a screen door on a submarine.

I will have to miss three days of classes (if I'm still doing the school thing...ya never know) if I want to be there for the duration, or I may do what I did last year...show up Thursday evening. Last year I drove the entire 625 miles (SC-PA and back) all on the same day. Might be easier for me since I'll be a caravan of one. At any rate, moving to Asheville knocked off 4 hours of driving for MVX, so I'm probably looking at the same amount of miles...maybe even fewer; will have to see what Mapquest says.

I know everyone is screaming, "plan NOW, make your reservations NOW!!!", but the fact is I won't be able to commit until 3-4 weeks out at best.

926 miles for me from Newport, RI. Do I have the record distance??

Not likely. If James79Stang makes the trip up from San Angelo, TX as he has for many of the past Maraudervilles, he'll be at 1,268 miles and about 21 hours. If some of our friends from Florida make the trip to MV10, they'll be at 1,200 miles. Those in southern Florida are closer to 1,400 miles.

Mary and Bob are closer to 950 miles from Massachusetts using the Canadian route and about 1,000 miles through Buffalo and Cleveland.

Here is a sample from last year's Marauderville IX (MV9) in Hershey/Harrisburg, PA back in October 2011. This year's MV10 in South Haven, MI will have different venues ... but the fun and good times are likely to be similar.

I've run Gingerman three times, and it is a great facility.

There were some hotels only ten minutes away to the west, and in downtown South Haven, there is a great restaurant Clementine's to eat.

Depending on the direction some of you come from, there is a great Auto Museum/Collection outside of Kalamazoo, the Gilmore Colection. Worth checking out.

11hrs 2mins / 666.99 miles = 60.45mph? :burnout:

I guess maaayyybeee; probably make 4 stops enroute for gas/food/pooping and each stop will cost me 15 mins on the road.

23mpg = 29 gal one-way

If gas is $4.50/gal (worst-case, IMO), that's ~ $130
If gas is $4.00/gal (best-case, IMO), that's ~ $116

Round-trip total somewhere between ~ $232 and $260 + ~$75 (1 fill-up)while at MVX.

I registered for fall semester classes last week; I have 3 classes and an evening lab (astronomy class) on Wed, nothing on Thurs, and 3 classes on Fri. Hopefully I can 'skip' classes on Friday, which means I'll hit the road at sunrise on Thurs and should arrive around 6-7pm that night.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out 4+ months from now....

From Bowie, MD to South Haven, MI = 672 miles.

740 miles from St Marys County, MD. We are stopping in Warren, MI to visit family then heading across the state. That makes it 800 even but the side trip is worth it.

Specific details have not been released yet for MV10. For Planning Approximation purposes, you can use the MV9 costs for comparable estimates/rates:

1. MV9 Hotel was $95.00 per night plus tax (Use $100 per day * 4 nights) = $400.00 See John's note below MV10 hotel is $89.00 plus tax (Use $94.00 * 4 nights = $376.00)
2. MV9 Registration was $65.00 per person attending (for 2 people that's $130.00)
3. Mileage/Gas .... 932 miles each way from Myrtle Beach, SC + 200 local travel = 2064 miles total (@ 24 MPG = 86 gallons * $4.00 = $344.00) or (@20 MPG = 103 gallons @ $4.00 = $412.00) or whatever your highway mieage is.
4. Food per day -- your call
5. Beverages/Drinks per day -- your call
6. Souvenirs/Trinkets -- your call
7. Any other expenses not listed above (e.g. aspirin, shaving cream, MM parts, supercharger, MM car wash, cleaning supplies, etc.)
8. Any special event fees not covered in the MV10 Registration (generally minimal --- might include a track racing fee/subsidy for Gingerman Raceway)

JMHO; but hotel costs might be a little lower in South Haven, MI. They are $6.00 less per night per note below. Registration has been in the $65-75 range for many of the MVs that I have attended. Gas prices are starting to come down; but what they will be in September 2012 is anybody's guess.

Hope this ^^^^^ gets you into the ballpark for estimating purposes.

This alone should outweight the 'cost' of attending.

I, too, was a little unsure about attending last year (my first MV) because of the upfront cost...all I can say is I'm glad I didn't let it sway me from going.

You can have some extra cash in your pocket, or you can have the best of friends for the rest of your life...

I wonder if anyone has notified Ford that this is going on? They might be interested that a community of owners of cars that went out of production 8 years ago is now celebrating its 10th anniversary. When Chevy's Impala SS got to that anniversary point, Chevy really supported the various celebratory meetings.

If anyone can get me a name in Ford marketing at a sufficiently senior level, I'd be happy to try to chase this. PM me.
