My ABS light has been on since late last fall, started it up one morning to go to work and the ABS light never went off. I had my friends buddy hook his scanner up to the car and it couldnt find any codes issues with the ABS system. I didnt go any further tackling the problem since I was getting ready to having my tranny rebuilt over the winter and the car wasnt going to be driven til this spring. I noticed after I picked the car up last week after the tranny rebulid and on the highway I had crusie control on and notice the crusie control indicator light was not on to indicate it was activated. Could my ABS light and cruise control light issue be related somehow?

With today's complicated computer-controlled cars, almost anything is possible, but those two systems aren't closely related...I doubt it. You need to find someone with a scanner that will read ABS codes...most of the simpler ones won't.

Yes, the ABS, and traction control are electronically "connected" There is a computer on the front of the Hydraulic portion of the ABS, and that takes inputs from wheel sensors and/or other other variables. The scan tool used by your friend is probably not a ford product. These are proprietary and according to my dealer not sold to the public.

The problem may be the computer ($1,000.00) or the Hydraulic portion or both. The ABS computer is not the same one that controls the engine and stuff that fits under the dash.

The brake ECU (computer) is mounted to the front of the metal box with all the hydraulic lines attached, it's mounted beside the engine on the drivers side under the aircleaner.

Could be just a wheel sensor, $80.00. The computer is in short supply and many companies that claim to repair them, don't. Need to read their ad's or call them.

I just went through this and it's expensive. Take it to a dealer and for less than 90.00 they will do a diagnosis.

This was a dealer scanner. Looks like I will have to take it in to the dealer to have them find the problem.

That is correct no cruise light, but the cruise control does work.

What he is saying is there is an "overdrive off" light, but no 'overdrive on' light.

A blank dashboard means overdrive is on and working.
If the green light is on overdrive is off.
If the green light is blinking, uh oh.

Sorry for the confusion the over drive operates correctly, it is truely the cruise control icon that doesnt light up when cruise control is activated, and the cruise control will engage when button is press. Just not sure if ABS light that stays on all the time has something related to the crusie control light not coming on at all.

I meant to say there is no Cruise Control indicator light on Marauders.

Correct, there is no such thing as a cruise control indicator light on the MM.

The ABS and traction control are linked, it could be a lot of different things. Even non-standard tire sizes. The rears have to be larger in diameter than the fronts.

My ABS light came on way back when and when I had the car up on a lift I found one of the little cables to the sensor on the caliper had been nicked by some road debris, probably a flattened pop can or something. I repaired the cable and put some heat shrink tubing over that area and haven't had a problem since. Might be a cheap fix and worth looking at before shelling out $90. Just my 2 cents

Bit the bullet today and took her in to see whats wrong with the ABS system. Was advised the the ABS modular needs to be replaced and was quoted $849.50 ($639 for modular and $210.50 labor). Just pick her up last week from Lido had tranny and rear end rebuilt, so funds are tap out right now. Is this part a delar only item? if not where can I go to get it cheaper? and is this something I can replace myself or is it something the dealer really needs to do?

I have the same problem, light on no codes. I checked all the sensors and wires already.:bigcry:

There are cases where the rear ABS sensor(s) is loose or the bolt is missing.

I had the dealer replace the ABS modular, no problems since replacing it.

It could be that the Cruise control bulb is burned out too.

ABS light may be on due to the wires in each seat for the airbag is loose or disconnected. Might be easy to check and reconnect those first. edit: I see you fixed it!

Please read post #10. There is NO bulb for the Cruise Control, and there is NO indicator showing the cruise control is on.

No problem! When I first started reading, I was thinking, We have a cruise light? I've never seen a cruise light. Then JB confirmed what I already thought. No cruise light! I wasn't trying to be a D**k, I just keep reading cruise control light, after JBs post. So I was trying to help with confusion.

Look at the Junk Yards.
Check to see if the Crown Vic or GM's will work with the Marauder.

That's gotta be cheaper than the dealer. Thanks.
