Over a month ago I installed Kooks LTH free flow cts Xpipe and Magnaflows used the stock over the axel pipes and added 4' cones tips.
diablo tune.

I love the increase in HP and torque,
HOWEVER I REALLY DON'T LIKE THE SOUND. IT HAS A TERRIBLE DRONE AND IT IS HIGH PITCH IT ALSO HAS A VIBRATION THAT I NOTICED WHEN I LOOKED IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR.

I AM USED TO THE RUBBLE SOUND THAT I GOT FROM MY MUSTANG BULLITT AND MY F150 LIGHTNING. THATS THE SOUND I WANT.

I HAVE WRITTEN KOOKS AND AM WAITING FOR A REPLY.

ANY SUGGESTION WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

THANKS,

I thought Magnaflows were the way to go for a quieter set up and to avoid drone and raspiness? Hmmm, might have to rethink my future set up. Maybe put back the oem mufflers?

This will prduce no drone. Swap out the X pipe for a Magnaflow two in two out muffler.

You need to reinstall the vibration dampers. I had significant drone on my x-pipe Borla setup until I realized the factory dampers were on the factory mufflers and had them added to the new system.

If the OEM mufflers are gone, there are some bolt on versions that you can order that may help. Do a thread title search for 'drone' and the part number comes up.

The over axle pipes are the choke point and that's where the drone is coming from. Same principle as trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, it's meeting resistance. Upgrade the over axle pipes and make sure the tips have been extended out past the bumper some.

Magnaflow makes a muffled straight through X pipe - I have this and it works.

Get rid of the X-pipe and get an H-pipe......problem solved!!

You can also add dampers from a CV to reduce vibration!!:D

What exhaust did you have on your lightning? And gen 1 or gen 2?

Reason I ask is because I had a gen 1 sc Harley and had all types of exhaust setups on it from stock to kooks/Jdm to jlp etc.

At one point, I had the kooks LTs going into that di/do magnaflow above and had some drone around 2000-2400 rpms. Now, it was NOT as bad as an external x-pipe but there was still drone. Given, it was on a different vehicle, but I'm giving experience from kooks long tubes going into the above muffler.

The best thing that killed drone overall was installing quality sound deadener tiles combined with a padding such as second skin's luxury liner. After that, the only people who knew I had any sort of exhaust were the people outside of my car.

I had an 04 Lightning with the stock exhaust I really like the sound of that system

I really leaning to the removal of the Kooks X pipe and fabricate a new H pipe then retune

Forget the X and drop the H and go straight :D,
and most definitely extend the tips past the bumper.

Black mobile is this the set up you have? If so what are the benefits to straight, versus X and H pipes?

It sounds like a big block, especially with the 4" tips.

Yeah, to op: if I were in your situation, I would go internal x magnaflow and sound deaden your car. LTs are just going to make it that much harder to eliminate drone.
