End result will be all black, and the ribs on top center 4-5 inches will have paint removed to be silver/aluminum, then clear coating the whole thing.

I didn't want my blower to have gloss because I wanted it to bend in with rest if engine bay. But looks good.
Have you marked your hoodliner where to trim the padding? Hate to see your hard worked get scrubbed off over time.

Nah, not big section, it only hits the very front top of the casing.

You should be ok without clear. As little bare aluminum you have and where it is and that its not polished.
Do they even have matte clear in rattle can?

matte clear, satin clear, semi gloss, and gloss.
Ive got a can of satin clear.
