Not to derail the thread, but why not go with a bigger pump, or twin pumps instead of running a boost a pump?

On my trilogy install i bought a walbro 400lph pump, instead of using a boost a pump.

I already have a ford gt supercar pump!

About to add a 2nd one. Thats the reason Im going with the bigger BAP!

Going with twin ford gt pumps. I have had the other pump for about 2 years now. Figured I'd use it. :D

Sounds like a nice setup! would you be comfortable running the twin gt pumps without the boost a pump:confused:

Are you going with braided lines/aftermarket fuel rails?

True.

The new replacement I got has worked perfectly, though. Maintaining steady fuel pressure under all conditions, and most importantly, under WOT.

Why not? I know of many cars with twin GT pumps and no BAP. All are in the 650rwhp range and have no problems. Some have a dedicated 10gauge power wire.

I totally agree and will be eventually running dual walbro 400 lph pumps, and -8 braided lines, aftermarket rails, for now its going to be a single walbro.

How do you propose fitting 2 of them in a MM fuel hat just curious. Not to mention Gonna have to find a way to run 2 power wires. I dont think using 1 wire and jumping to the next will cut it with 2 of these

Modify the fuel hat to hold two pumps, prolly a pass thru connector for the two power wires, and a screw in pass thru connector for the -8 line out.

Youll for sure have to fab something up. A stock MM hat is a tight fit with 2 GT pumps. When U get to the stage of needing that kinda fuel You really need to start thinking full return style.

I agree! it will be a return style system when i add the second pump, at the end of the day i would like to end up with a whipple 2.9l.

But hell i want to enjoy my heaton first!:banana2:

I just dont think it would be feasible when you can just run race fuel in the oem tank, then switch back to street gas when your done at the track.

Last time I ran at the track was December 13th. of 08!

I don't drag race like that!

So why waste the money putting in an extra tank that I will barely use???

That's just me. I can't speak for anyone else.

In an alt. tank you could then easily upgrade the fuel pumps and have the fuel Cell in the trunk, with a switch off valve.

So when you installing the one shot Nitrous setup that will be undetectable at the end of your run? :coolman:

that im aware of they are for return style or maybe i just need to investigate about them some more.

Yeah im going to contact Walbro and Lethal and inquire about that, if it only works on return style ill just buy a second pump and go that route now.

Not sure if Walboro recommends it or not but Ive seen several on diff sites using them in returnless systems.

Will it hurt anything to put a modified FPDM with a BAP on a stock car?

Cant do it. The fuel pressure at idle is way too high

Get the racetronix wiring kit and install 2 GSS 342's or 2 AEM 320's.
(I have the AEM's Ive yet to install.)

Yep tried it my self and that was the problem, not to mention walbro says it was never intended for a returnless style fuel system.

What about changing the fuel pump voltage tables to compensate?

Return style just looks like the way to go for the high hp cars...

ok, educate me a little here, because I may be misunderstanding.

Why the preference for 2 255s over 1 340 and the BAP? I was thinking I'd just keep things simple.

A little info: I'm not trying to make a ton more power, I figure it might make 10-20 more HP (if any more at all) when I'm done, so maybe 550-560-ish region? So really I'm just looking for a little more since last year when it got cold at the track the A/F was quite close to 12. unfortunately I have no duty cycle log since my sniper tuning stuff sucks and the logger keeps freezing on me. Going to use that torque app this year though.

Anyway is the dual 255 option just better because it has that much more headroom if I wanted to make a good bit more power? Or is there something wrong I'm missing about running a single 340?

Zack
03-04-2014, 09:44 PM
If you want to get the most out of your 340 pump, you need a -8 line from tank to rails.
Remember, volume of fuel available makes the pump support more HP

RR|Suki
03-05-2014, 06:04 AM
well, most of the options so far would seem to support a lot more hp than I was planning on. If I'm going to have to do a bunch to the fuel system maybe I will give in and run a little smaller pulley. I'll have to think about that.
