Cop/Taxi Shocks on a regular old Grand Marquis

I'm new to these cars, but learning fast, and a very good shade tree mechanic.

I have an opportunity to purchase shocks for my 2000 GMLS (no air suspension). Shocks are advertised as for police cars and taxis. I actually do want a firmer ride in this car so I have no problem with firmer shocks. But - will these fit on a non-P71 or P72 car? Will they be too long or too short? Are the mounting points the same between the P71 and the civilian version?

they should work. i have the monroe severe service shocks on my marauder. same shocks used on iowa st. trooper P71s

Yeah they'll absolutely fit, just make sure you get the correct ones for your year. Mounting positions changed in 03+
