After not being able to make a swap for my Powdercoated Marauder wheels I have sent the rears to Weldcraft to have them widened. then when I get them back they will go to the powder coaters. Then new rubber!!! Any suggestions on the type of brand/type/size of tires to get? I want a street drag radial but also want some wet traction for the trips to meets etc....

Got em back!!!! NEXT STOP POWDER COATERS!!!

Widened wheels you rascal, you! :D

Quite a few guys are running Nitto 295/45's on widened rears, IIRC. You may want to PM CWright, he had his wheel mod done a short while ago and could give you some good info.

Your going to love weldcrafts work! James is da man when it comes to widening/narrowing wheels!

I agree with Cwright the nitto 295/45 street radial, or the nitto 305/45 drag radial are excellent options depending on your needs/wants.

One of the best mods I ever did was to widen my rears and narrow my fronts.
For wet traction and a drag radial, the Nitto 555R would be my choice. For all out traction, it's not the best suited solution, but for every day driving on a drag radial, it's quite good.

I was quoted $225 per wheel and shipping, your price may vary, I had 6 done at once.

My 555 extremes wouldn't hook with 60 lbs less of torque than I have now.
I'm looking at the nt05 or 555rs to replace the rears.
The car gets sideways way too easy on the street, even when passing at highway speeds. Don't like em anymore.
Nice highway cruisers but weak on traction above 400 RWT IMHO.

526 RWT, nothing hooks without a big smokey burnout first.:burnout:

Jeff said I'm going to have the same problem. I have the 555 ZR's now. I have plenty of tread to burn off so it might be a few months before I start looking. Could you keep me posted on what you go with and how much better you hook with them. I'll be looking soon! Thanks Gary!

how much do/can you widen them?

It depends on the wheel being widened, 18x11 w(1.5" spacer) is about the max for oem wheels unless your tubbing the rear end.
