Our city just got rid of ours. After the first year and people got used to them being there the cameras didn't pay for themselves anymore. It did accomplish stopping the redlight runners but it ended up costing the city till the lease was up. We had them for 3 years. They broke even the first year and went in the RED the last 2 years till the lease was up. So basically we pissed the money out the window for 2 years.

We have 3 intersections with them here. I go thru one of them every morning. *****y part of Newport News. I used to think it was gunfire, but there was no noise, then someone told me it was the cameras taking my picture. Never got anything in the mail, they must have been blinded by the pure awesomeness radiating from ol' 1 of 328. I have noticed it keeps people from turning on red without coming to a full stop. You California roll thru a redlight at that intersection, BAM. As for going straight, tho, people still don't care. Seems like they actually speed even more now to get thru it before the camera goes off. Only a matter of time before someone crashes (who didn't run the light) and claims the flashing lights scared them. Then they sue the city. Hmmm....wheels.....turning.... .:)

A town near where we live put in camera's about a year ago. Just read in the paper they have issued over 8700 tickets. Ka'ching $$$$ to that town. We don't shop there anymore, not that we go through red lights but it's just unsporting. I think if you speed and a police person catches you then you pay the piper but this camera BS is just a revenue grab. Especially around where I live it's not a very high crime area.

We have them in Tacoma. What they have done here is a partnership with a company that installs and manages them. When you get a ticket you mail it to the company in the midwest, they reimburse the city 50%. They have the right to
move them when an intersection is not paying enough. It is just a crock.

After I bought Mike's Blue I had his plates on it and ran every camera light I could find. The same with Red, no plates. Let them find me now. LOL

The people are fighting them here.

eh....after a couple of tickets you learn to watch out for them

They are making a bigger deal about this than it really is. It sucks but you learn to deal with it.

I am more upset at a cluster**** of a traffic jam this will cause on major roads rather than really worying about getting a picture taken

Just one more reason to not waste my time or money in Chicago! I'll stick right here in the burbs and do more for less.
