Has anyone towed a vehicle on a full trailer with a car cover on it? I plan on towing my MM back home (about 1300 miles) with a U-haul truck and I was wondering if leaving the cover on it (fully secured) would be ok or am I asking for..trouble?

I know it would be easier towing it w/o but I'd like to keep 1300 miles of god knows what splashing, hitting, landing, splatting and bouncing off my car as much as I can.

The cover will just flap in the wind and burnish the paint badly. I would not recommend it. The U haul truck will actually be more of blocker for anything..the wheels are covered and tucked up under the box body and not throw water/rocks up..it will be fine IMO.

There's a plastic wrap that is used to wrap up pallets with products on it. I bought a roll of it at Uhaul and have used it on the front of my car and the mirrors when towing. I made it pretty thick and it worked great with out the flapping. Just a thought.

Yep,
Paint will get a thorough burnishing by the constantly flapping car cover.

Ever see those knuckleheads who insist on flying their NFL team's flag all year round?
Their paint is absolutely wasted by the flapping flag!

I asked the same question several years ago ... got this answer:

DO NOT DO IT. It will hurt the paint.

I put a good coat of wax on the car and put a heavy coat on the nose and sides. My SHO looked good even after a 1100 mile drive.

I can see it now, the cover scratching your paint back and forth, then side to side, with a flap and slap!

That's just going 55mph!
