Installed the 4.10 gears, plugs, thermostat, and underdrive pullies yesterday and programmed my PCM with the new SCT tuner. What a difference. Money well spent.
Before the mods, I couldn't chirp second gear (due to torque management). Now, it not only chirps, it sets off the traction control light on a WOT 1-2 shift. The 2-3 shift is also the way it should be, firm and positive. One nice thing, the shifts are smooth when driving in traffic and firm when driving hard.
With the underdrives, the engine revs quickly. A noticeable difference. Really good mod. Highly recommended.
The tuner can also be used as a code reader for just about any car built from 1996 and up (not just the car you programmed). The booklet that comes with the tuner gives a list of codes and descriptions too. This is a really nice unit.
Trip to the drags coming soon...

... I'm planning on ordering my goodies later this week.
And I hope to get them installed when I get my car inspected later this month.
I am guessing you bought the SCMT 1725, and not the new custom tuner.
Sounds good to me.

Actually, I bought the new SCT hand held Custom tuner from Dennis. It came with 2 programs installed, race gas and premium fuel. Nice unit.
Bowman, you are in for a treat...
I thought y'all were supposed to be "saving your money" ;)

I noticed that some people are running 4.10 gears and some are running 4.30's. How much highway top speed would I be giving up if I went with 4.30's?
I would like my car to launch harder, but still want high speed capability.
What do you guys recommend?

I did 4:10's, and the more I think about it 4:30's would have suited me better. It all depends where you have you fun. With 4:10's one will only notice a slight difference in highway WOTs and top end. I would bet the 4:30's would be slightly more noticable. As far as 4:10's we run about 250 rpm's higher at speed than stock, and notice about a 1.5 to 2 mile difference in fuel milage on the long haul.
I have my fun on city streets, and tracks. It's all about launching this boat. If I had my druthers, and another $450:o ....I go with 4:30's.

Barry,
Thanks for the input! I don't mind going to the 4.30's. I'll just have to see what kind of cruise and top speed I will get from those.
