But, if the 2003 Mustang SVT Cobra had/has a 4.6L DOHC 32 valve turbocharged engine rated at 390 HP, then what would stop Mercury from putting this engine in a 2005 MM, assuming other upgrades are also done?
Is there a fundamental difference in engine rooms that makes this difficult or impossible without serious modifications.
For that matter, if you had the inclination and deep pockets, could you buy a crate SVT 4.6L Cobra motor for your existing MM?
Okay, school is in session. Give me a clue!

If I remember correctly, the Cobra motor is too tall for the Marauder. I think someone actually put a crate motor in his Marauder, but I forget all the details, but the hood wouldnt close. I am sure that mercury could correct or work around this problem, but the Romeo Engine plant here in Michigan where the Cobra motors are made on the hand built line cant produce enough quantity of Cobra motors for both the Marauders and the Cobras. When they have a problem with production, it really cuts into Cobra production numbers. There wont be a supercharged 2005 Marauder from the factory. And since the 2003 Cobra I raced on the way down to Ennis Texas last year couldnt beat me, why would I want his motor in my Marauder!! Our group from michigan heading to texas sat back and watched when the 03 Cobra insisted on going for it on the freeway....from a 55mph start...he lost by 3 carlengths when he finally gave up the ghost at somewhere over 125 mph. You will do much better putting on a Trilogy supercharger and have some fun!

Even if it did fit, it's a pretty heavy motor weighing about a hundred pounds more than our motor if I remember correctly. That would do a good job throwing off the weight distribution even more..............

Aside from any possible clearance issues, I doubt that Ford has an automatic transmission in its stable that can handle the power of the Cobra motor.

Oh well. Guess they'll have to give the car a six-speed manual to go with it. Shucks!
