If you can get 700+ out of a 281, why not 1,000hp out of a 351? :D

Looks like old man Shelby has found an even better way to rip off his followers.

$150,000 PLUS the cost of the GT500 for the street version or.....

$200,000 PLUS the cost of a GT500 for the race version = $270,000 GT500

......................... ......................... ....

For a quarter million dollars++ I could buy a REAL 60's Shelby AND a new GT500 AND have enough money left over mod the new GT500 with a 1,200 HP twin turbo kit.

Um, how about a ZR1 Vette? Sure the mustang has 1000HP but has it been down the 1/4 mile? The corvette can break into the 10's bonestock with street tires. No slouch!

None! why because its a zillion miles from practical!:P how many of thses shelbys do suppose they will sell?

My guess is less than TEN:rolleyes: most with that kinda coin arent buying from the big 3! unless they move to Stutgart!

True but I believe cars should be judged by their price, not their platform, because if a car is sellilng for 150K, in my eyes its a supercar, I would hands down take a ZR1 vette over that mustang, could spend the extra 50K modding the crap out of the vette and destroy nearly anything, whether in a straight line or autocross.

But that's just my 2 cents!

When it comes to american grand tourers, ford has
The others beat, hands down. Yeah we can go all day about the ZR1 and SRT10, but ford has done it with a chassis that is just as at home with a v6 and grandma suspension as it is with 1k plus hp and ring-beating suspension and brakes. Closest competition stateside is the CTS-V, but it's a touring sedan. When you hear mustang mentioned in the same breath as GTR and M3, it's a good day to be in Henry's pocket gents.

True, but my thought is that kind of power with factory equipment. That kind of power would usually come from extremely well-flowing heads and exhaust, a mild cam, and in this case too a fairly hefty amount of boost.

Now at $150K, it's about three times as much as a regular GT500, so it's believable that there is plenty of money in the budget per-car for reaching that level, it's just a bit much to get used to the thought of I guess...

Like I said, I'll believe it when I see it, but I'm not discounting the possibility. :)

no...it won't...not by a long shot

veyron maxes out at about 247 mph and a super sport veyron is at about 267 mph. The physics limit that shelby MAYBE MAYBE MAYBE at 200. sorry but the difference between 200 and 247 is HUGE it is nowhere near like comparing 100 to 147mph limits.

I'm sure Lingenfelter or Callaway will have their 1000hp versions of the F-body Jake as for Dodge I'm not sure who their guru is any more, used to be Keith Black. Not sure if he's even alive anymore.

I'm with Joe Walsh on this one. If you have that kind of coin buy a GT500 take some of your 100K that's left over buy 350+ HP and take the rest and build a garage with a nice security system
