So I've been having a problem for a while now. It started a few months ago and is happening more frequintly now. Any ideas, guys and gals?

It happens almost everytime I drive the car now, at least once a day but not everytime I drive it.

I start the car and immediatley I can here a loud whine/buzz coming from my trans, the OD light starts flashing and the shift from first to second is VERY aggressive.

It has started while I've been driving, only upon starting the car innitially.

It only shifts hard and has the whine/buzz when the OD light is flashing and vice versa.

I can't figure out what the "trigger is", as it seems to just randomly pick and choose when to act up.

Last thing; is AAMCO a reputable place to have it looked at?

Sounds like tranny fluid is low.

+1

Would be the first place to check.

Sounds like the pump, really.

Could be, but might as well start with the obvious.

Pump's most likely on it's way out. It's right behind the torque convertor and there are rebuild kits for them.

+1 Certainly sounds like the pump, that buzz u hear is little to no line pressure

Wouldn't my shifts be very weak if I had no line pressure? As I said, when the buzz occurs, the 1-2 shift is INTENSE. It winds out about 300rpms over normal and shifts so hard the change in my console rattles.

The pump will go into an emergency mode and jack the line pressure up tremendously.

If it is in fact the pump how much am I looking for professional replacement? How hard is it to do at home? And Is there an upgraded pump?

How about the 1-2 shift solenoid struggling to keep up with pressure when it is all leaking past the known defective 1-2 accumulator?

Personally for the ease of the job and the cheap parts, I would start there. PATC is where I order my trans parts.

1st check fluid. If the od light is blinking then there is a code. U need to pull the code and post it up to give a better idea. Buzzing can be a loose spring in the valve body/pump/etc... So pull the code first amd post it so we can go a little further

I have an Xcal2. How do I pull the code with it?

I just had my transmission overhauled and the rebuild kit from ford was a little over $200 for parts. The rebuilder added a few upgrades and now it is better than new. Good luck.

Had my 1-2 accumulator spring break and bind up on my markVIII and the shift to 2nd was quite harsh.
