Does anyone know of a tire cleaner that DOESN'T add shine? I hate the shiny wet look and just want my tires clean and black, like new.

I won some Armour-All tire foam stuff and used it last year at cruise/car shows and have no complaints. Gave the car what you said you are looking for.

I know a lot of people poo-poo Armour-All but it was free and I thought the results were acceptable.

I tried Armour-All one time and it left a slimy residue that picked up dust. I know Zaino has a product that does what I'm looking for, but it's very labour-intensive and fairly pricey so I was just hoping there was something else I could try. Keep the suggestions coming... :)

Don't remember any slime feel to my tyres last year. What I used was a spray foam. Microclothed it off, it dried quick and never noticed any sling either.

Not advocating Armour-All by any means but I was generally happy with it. Once the can runs dry I will be in the same position as you are now. :)

Hmmm...maybe it was the way I used it. It was a number of years ago, but I remember the can saying you didn't need to wipe it, just spray it on and let it "dry". Perhaps this was a different version of an Armour-All product...do you have a part number or exact name?

If you are talking about a tire cleaner (not a tire shine or dressing) then I recommend eagle one for a good quality cleaner, don't let it dry on there or it can cause the streaking you mentioned with simple green, but it more effective IMO.

Oh God now your making me go down into the dungeon to find it. Creepy things live down there (no Haggis lives in Maryland) .

I'll poke around and see what's what and let you know.:)

I like this made by Permatex. Leaves tires just right, with no residue.

If you tires are dirty use Westley's Bleche White and a stiff brush to clean them, then use the dressing of your choice.

I like this stuff. Spray it on and WIPE IT OFF. Makes it look clean not shiny. I also spray it under the hood if I can't wipe it off, no big deal. Your not sopose to anyway.

I second the westley's tire bleach with a stiff brush. I even use that under the hood to get the grime off.

This is what I use. www.croftgateusa.com

Multi Clean for cleaning tires are brake dust and road grim or you can just use tire shine and do not put on heavy and you will get a mat finish.

Well when you edit it like that it makes me seem kinky, not saying I'm not but context was relevant.

One dragon in the house is enough I'll leave Haggis to his own dungeon-master:lol:

Tide with Dawn Stain Scrubbers liquid laundry detergent... and good arc-shaped tire brush:

1/2 cap full to a quart of water in a bucket..
scrub and hose spray nozzle rinse..one tire at a time...looks natural..

put on any dress you want....

I just use my car wash (right now it's Meguires Detailer soap) and a good stiff brush.
Always wash your tires/wheels 1st. the stuff that comes off of your tires makes a mess on clean paint, and by it's very nature is abrasive.

For tire protectant I use Pinnacle Black Onyx, it does exactly what you are looking for.http://www.pinnaclewax.com/fcopiblontig.html
Wipe it on, wipe it off.
