Got my car back the other day from the dealership. Was there to fix the "gas reads too low" TSB. Had to drop the tank I understand.

Anyway, some kind of mixup must have occured at Ford because it appears I must have recieved an top secret experimental thingy for my fuel tank that actually makes fuel!! I am so exited! I dropped the car off with a little less than a quarter of a tank and for the last few days the needle has been steadily climbing! by the time I got to work today the guage now says I have a full tank!

I am going to have to drain some off when I get home tonight, I mean if it overflows it could be a real fire hazard don't you think?. I could use the extra in my snowblower, or just find a big drum to put it in.

Something like this could put the big oil companies out of business. Think of the environmental impact! Telling you all about this might be putting my life in danger!

Maybe I should do the right thing and let my dealer know they must have gotten a part from the R&D lab by accident.

I think I'll take the long way home through the rural countryside tonight to think about it.

I had mine done last week; guess what? Same thing. They noticed it, however, and kept the car until they had it right. They ended up ordering a complete assembly including the fuel pump, sender, mounting plate, which worked on the first try. Earlier, they found that it read full 4 times after retrying the install of the original repair part, consisting of just the sender. I left the car with them with an empty tank (5 or 6 gallons in it) so that they could drop it easier. So at empty, it would read full. So you probably had gas in it, and as you used it, the level on the guage rose! Nice! Great story, though. I like your writing style!

PS: Add gas, you may not be actually accumulating it as you drive!

So how can I know if it's my gas gauge that's funny, or my driving habits (amount of driving back and forth, and speeds driven) that make me run out so quick?

Well, Woaface in my situation it seems to be reasonable to assume that the harder I drive it, The more fuel I end up with.
