View Full Version : HELP! Riddle me this ... turn signal doing double speed??

My left turn signal started blinking at twice the speed of the right turn signal (which is more annoying than you might think). Naturally (in my head, at least), I assumed that my left tail-lamp bulb was burnt out. So I check the signal ... left turn signal works, right turn signal works. So, then I am thinking that the left brake light is out and this is the Merc's funny way of letting me know. No dice ... all brake lights work. Then I'm thinking the amber turn signal on the front of the car is out ... nope ... works fine. So now ... I'm confused. What am I missing??
Feeling stupid. :o (And yes ... I checked the "blinker fluid.")

Is the 3156 bulb that stays on the direction of the turn in the front turn signal burnt out? Its the clear bulb in the front.

Funny you should ask. I just had the same epiphany ... but no ... that's not it either. :mad2: Frustrating. I'm about half tempted to start throwing money at it changing bulbs ... but that seems like a waste. Especially when I was eventually planning on changing to LED's where I can.

Hmmm ... did a few more searches and turned this up. http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=71404&highlight=blink Looks like I need to start changing taillight bulbs until it stops. What are the brightest bulbs replacement bulbs out there for the tail lamps?

Classic Ford burned out bulb syndrome. Check the driver's rear taillight bulb --- that one was the first to go on every Ford that I've owned since the early 1990's. :D
