I have had some new Command Rotors in storage for about a year. The rotors have formed a little surface rust. What is the best way to remove & clean surface rust pre install ?

Install them on my car and I'll take them for a test drive. When I get back they'll be good to go.

I like the way you think. I would do the same except I will be installing new pads at the same time & want to do it right.

One trip around the block and that rust will be gone.

I would think just some brake clean. Usually they ship them in plastic with a coating of oil on them to prevent rust.

I'm going to get some from CA soon I think.

You can use a Scotchbrite pad and brake clean to remove the rust.

Scotchbrite pad may do the trick. I also heard sand paper but forgot what grit is recomended.

you could pretty much use any grit if your doing it by hand
