Can I just tap into the ORG/BLK wire from the stock transmission temp sensor and use that as the sender wire on the Autometer 4357 gauge?

Seems much easier than cutting into cooling lines but I dont know if the voltages match up or if adding a sensor to that wire will change the readings at the ECU.

I would say no.

The Autometer gauge is made to work with the sender it came with.

Tap in to the pan with the sender that came with the autometer gauge.

Pan? Wouldnt the hottest fluid be leaving the transmission on its way to the cooler? What kind of readings would I get from the pan?

Ive read quite a bit of discussion regarding mounting locations and my thought is that you want to monitor where the fluid could be the hottest so you know right away if theres a problem.

my sender is in the pan.

I read 170 cuising to 200f when hot rodding ALOT/quater mile drag race, seems to be a good spot

Thermostat in the cooler opens at 185F correct?

Mine is also in the pan, just the easiest place to put it. I have a B&M gauge, since I have a B&M hi-tech trans cooler with a fan.

The theory from what I have read, is to put the sender in the return line to the transmission. That way if it gets hot, that would indicate a problem with the cooler.
