Hey fellas,

Just picked up a new set of Nitto NT05 Max Performance Summer tires.

Fronts are 255|35|20 - 35 Psi
Rears are 315|35|20 - 38 psi

Drove about 60 miles today my first impression can be summarized in word "surprised".

First because I feared that going to a lower profile tire (35 series) I would lose the comfort and road noise would now be more apparent. Even going over uneven roads with pot holes and dips (Cali roads) it was pretty much on par with my BFGs. Only noticed slightly rougher over the deepest pot holes otherwise no discernible difference.

When mounting the tires I noticed the tires would just pickup dirt off the floor so the compound is much stickier and definitely softer.

These tires just plain grip; Ive got about a 6-8 mile trek over some winding roads with rolling hills. First the grip is pretty much amazing compared to the BFGs seems much more confident going into and accelerating out of corners. Road noise is about on par with the BFGs and cruising on the open highway there's no difference. I would say going over some deep potholes obviously jar the car slightly more so gonna have to what out for those. I havent tested to its limits yet but I am sure as the weather get better Ill have a more complete review. Oh and lastly these tires just plain hook. I used to get into the throttle even quarter/half way off the line I could break the tires loose on the BFGs. Need to take her to the track and really test her out.

Anyhow Ill post up more feedback as I get more seat time with these tires.

I have a set set of those also. Summed up in one word. Badass. I don't know why everyone goes with the extremes, people I know here use those with their larger rims not for performance but looks. NT05 is straight up performance. Good with choice.

Don't have experience with them (just the 555's), but here in the ATL when we get rain, WE GET RAIN:o which results in alot of standing water on the highways and byways...... The 555's are better suited for daily driving in this enviornment imho.

If the Banshee was a good weather weekend car, I would run these for sure:burnout::beer:

I have only good things to say about the NT05, been riding them since last summer.

^^Funny I read one review where the NT05 performed great in wet weather so we shall see. I think people shy away from this because of the tread wear rating "max summer" designation.

Ive had the following tires on my Mustang and Marauder:

General Exclaim UHP Summer tire
Les Schwab Proxes 4 UHP
Yokohama Avid (same as the Proxes; IIRC rebadged for Les Schwab)
BFG KDWS

Grip= NT05, Generals, Yokohama, BFG
Noise=Generals, Yokohoma, BFG, NT05 (soft compound)

I liked the Generals more but they where really loud and became too stiff after 8-10k miles. Great traction though never really was able to get good miles out of it. maybe 20-25k max.
Yokohama Avid's/Les Schwab where good high performance tire for the buck. they were decent performers and good tread life 25-30k.
Nitto NT05 - totally different kind of tire really for street/track/summer tire soft compound makes for a fun drive.
