Thinking of going a catless 3" exhaust front to back with Xpipe. I already have 4" tips & borla mufflers. Would this be a good idea being that I'm N/A? Do I lose or gain?

I think you will end up loving the sound but hating the torque loss. You know that whole "Every action creates a reaction" theory.

Yep youre gonna loose alot of backpressure being N/A I would think you will open it up to much like Bob said TQ will be at a loss, & these cars being heavy need that TQ

So n/a cars should not get an x pipe??? I was gonna go x pipe with high flow cats and shorty headers.

That may help put the butt meter back to normal? Honestly don't have evidence to back that up, just a good guess. But I will give an example of boost and torque loss. When I installed my LT's and 2 1/2" X with no cats, I lost 1.7 of boost, and 10 or so torque. Every car is different, that was just my personal experience.
Weird thing is I do infact make more HP and Torque with the cutouts open. I make 13 more HP and 12 Torque, and my boost was a dead on 9.7 (same exact number as when they were closed) Exhaust is a tricky thing, and sometimes impossible to say what the outcome will be till tried out.

Stay with 2 1/2", 3" won't give you enough backpressure and like justbob said, you'll prolly end up losing some power.

I just did Chris's 03 Friday..high flow cats, 3 inch X pipe ,11229 Magna flows, and delete 4 inch tips...good enough to get 535 to the ground.
I wouldn't do 3 inch on non blown engines...it will hurt low end torque.

Agree 3" is too big, it's not the back pressure, but the speed which the exhaust gasses run through the pipes. If you go dual 3" pipes the speed of the exhaust gas will slow down and hurt performance.
Example: Think pressure washer hose (smaller) vs garden hose (larger)

That would be the concept of back pressure. Water flowing through a smaller hose will do so at higher pressure than a similar volume of water through a larger hose. The greater cross sectional profile of the larger hose produces less pressure, which results in a slower volumetic flow.

So you increase velocity through scavenging or some other design, and don't choke down the exhaust to give yourself the illusion of a faster car.
Even with more low-end torque response, there's no conceivable way that that "backpressure" doesn't create a loss in power output.
